Ok gang, it started with this thread on how to install/hardwire a radar detector.

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-cts-forum-2008-beyond/136005-radar-detector-hard-wired.html

I followed the directions and install my Passport 9500i on the passenger light as described. Well the next day my battery was dead. Jumped the battery and low and behold dead the next day. Took it to Cadillac and hid the hardwire from view. They tested my car with a meter looking for a drain for 1.5 days. Could not find a thing, but they swapped the battery out to be safe. Suspecting the hardwire based on a Thread on the forum I ran the car for 1 week on the accessory plugin, not a single dead battery.

Well, I deceided to plug it into the hardwire again, the next day the battery was dead. So now the million dollar question where the heck can I wire it in?

I thought about tapping into the accessory plug when I did my LockPick. My only concern was how the heck can I route the wires up through the dash and pillar to the roof. I would much rather tie in somewhere in the mirror area.

Any ideas would be most helpful.

I installed my radar detector about a week ago. No problems to speak of at the moment.

You can only connect to power that turns off when you turn the car off. Like the sunroof. Otherwise you will have a dead battery every morning:banghead:

I saw your ealier post but I was concerned that the power for this area was controlled be the same power source. So using your installation method what about the direct wire Bel inline fuse? It looks like you left it out.

Didn't need it? Using a voltmeter you find the appropriate slot to each cable. You just plug-n-play. This is based on stealthcords.com instructions. You can also use invisicord.com.

I made my own "inviscord" using the oem Bell hardwire cord with the fuse. I left the fuse in place and it easily fit into the overhead console where I tapped into the power. I used the power and ground from the driver's map light and it has worked flawlessly to date.
