View Full Version : Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this serious design flaw.. albelee79 04-13-08, 11:36 AM When looking at the passenger side door when closed. The pillar is not flush with the body. Its about 1/4 inch out and sticks out like the car door is ajar.
I just noticed this and I was trying to find someone who might have the same problem, but I couldnt find anything. The drivers side is completely flush but the passenger pillar (Plastic vertical piece) sticks out like a sore thumb...

1-if it was a design flaw it would be on all of them......... it's not and has never been reported here.
2- Instead of telling us, have you considered, calling the nice dealerman and telling him?
3- That goes for the anti-american Spaceman too. spaceman78 04-13-08, 01:07 PM i hate going to dealships they drive me crazy lol Just some wild and crazy thoughts....

Southern, you're not wild and crazy (well concerning your comment that is; I can't make a judgment about you in general). I just checked my CTS and the doors are all perfectly aligned and meet up with the body where they should. These observerd problems are not a design flaws but likely can and should be corrected. urbanski 04-13-08, 02:53 PM one could say you should have picked it up during your predelivery inspection. you did look the car over when writing the check, no?
same w/ spaceman Yikes....Ii am going to check everything now when i pick up my CTS!! carterb 04-13-08, 05:20 PM No noticeable issues with mine ! :2thumbs: Southern 04-13-08, 05:28 PM Yikes....Ii am going to check everything now when i pick up my CTS!!

I hope this will be in the category of manufacture defect. ngiardina 05-26-08, 03:03 PM Anybody else experience this and, if so, what was the dealer's solution?? Eldo1953 05-26-08, 05:33 PM :postpics: ngiardina 05-26-08, 08:01 PM not really, the b-pillar at the top of the front door sticks out approximately 1/4" at the top. Picture it. lordbaby 05-26-08, 08:06 PM i trust you because someone here posted a picture here before.. his hood had an uneven gap betwen the left and right (one side is wilder) but this doesn't happen to every car and it is difficult to discover. post some picture Dualcams34 05-27-08, 10:07 PM A small adjustment to the window frame is all you need. Put the window down all the way, put your knee on the door panel and pull the window frame in toward you. Or have your dealer pull the header in to make it flush with the roof. BamaCaddy08 05-27-08, 10:13 PM This is stupid. Its really simple go to the dealer, they tend to be helpful with things like this.
Spaceman, instead of the USA have you tryed space itself? Southern 05-27-08, 10:17 PM Amen. dynalub 05-28-08, 09:42 AM Everyone picks on Frankie:tisk: 2laidback 05-28-08, 10:40 AM Gosh! Rushed out to the garage and gave it a once over! All looked good, on the way past the refrig. picked up a cold one. It was worth the trip! Southern 05-28-08, 10:44 AM I was gonna go look at mine, but realized I was out of beer, so it would have been a wasted trip.....:histeric: spaceman78 05-28-08, 02:58 PM everybody loves me here lol....i still like it here still some nice people here.........i hope everybody is enjoying the 2008 cts albelee79 05-30-08, 03:58 AM I went to the dealer and apparently this isnt a manufacturer defect. I realized that one of my worst fears almost came true...someone had tried to break into my car and jimmy it with a crow bar from the outside. This became evident by opening the door and seeing the telltale scrape marks left by the a-hole who attempted to break in.

Well that sucks. Good thing that they were unsuccessful at breaking into your car. I had Lojack installed in my car day after I received it...hopefully I never have to use it. Just curious. Since Onstar is free for the first year why did you install Lojack.
Onstar can track and locate. Am I wrong ??

Thought the same thing, because mine has the same scratches on the inside of the driver's pillar and the outside of the passengers pillar. Very coincidental that two people's cars had theft attempts before delivery. I wonder if the jackasses at the ports did it. My car goes in Monday for the repair, I will keep everyone posted as to the outcome. Cadillac Tony 05-31-08, 03:04 PM Man, that sucks that someone tried to break into your cars, but it speaks well for the ability of the CTS to resist a quick break-in.
Time for a new thread title, maybe? |
