View Full Version : Interior Lights not working right. gadgeteer123 04-12-08, 10:41 PM I hit a deer quite a few monthes back and a couple of weeks after that the turn signal sorted out on the body and screwed up the interior lights only. the turn signals still work. The interior lights will only turn on one at a time, if i turn on two it gets dimmer if i turn on three it even gets more dim and so on, and when i turn the light switch on the dash only the floor lights work and it disables all the ceiling lights. Blown fuse my deer!!! And what type of car do you own? gadgeteer123 04-14-08, 12:46 PM 1995 cadillac seville sls. it is not a blown fuse cuz all the lights work, just not by the switch on th dash or if i turn on more than one at a time, plus ive checked em already. gadgeteer123 04-15-08, 03:23 AM I was thinking it might be a relay in the trunk that is just shorted out or is it in the dash, and could you tell me which relay does ncontrol the lights so i can try it for the hell of it, hopefully its easy to fix cuz i want my car fully fixed after that torment i put it through. gadgeteer123 04-16-08, 11:28 AM come on someone please help me with this please, no one has been able to help yet or just stopped respoding so can you guys please help me, i want this fixed. How did you check them, visually or with a test light? gadgeteer123 04-17-08, 08:29 AM visualy, i just see that the lights are all messed up and shorted out somewhere in the car. I meant, how did you check the fuses? gadgeteer123 04-17-08, 02:27 PM i pulled all of the fuses that had anything to do with lights. Plus the lights wouldn't work if the fuse was blown, the lights still work, they just are all shorted out and don't work properly. The lights WILL work with a blown fuse. You need to put a test light on each fuse. If a fuse blows, it will feed back thru the courtesy light circuit causing dim lights. The blown fuse is not in the light circuit. With ignit. key on, car off, put a test light on both sides of the fuse till you find the blown one. Then check the circuit thats blowing that fuse. gadgeteer123 04-17-08, 05:05 PM ok i check the fuses and there was one blown fuse and i replaced it and it popped again right away what do i do? I will say again, check the circuit that the fuse powers. Probably related to the collision, so look for a pinched wire by the damage. The fuse popping quickly means the short is still there. Fixing a short is mostly looking then moving the affected wire. When we reply to a question about engines, we expect the poster to have a working understanding of engines, when the post involves wiring or any electrical issue again we assume the person has a basic understanding of auto electronics. Not to be rude, but we are here to help not train. gadgeteer123 04-17-08, 08:09 PM I tested the fuses by pulling all of them and one was blown and i put a new one in and it popped right away, I don't known whats its for but i'm guessing something with the lights then. So what do i do to fix this. Help me by helping yourself. Get a Haynes Manual on your car so you can determine what FUSE PROTECTS WHAT. Again, look at the collision damage, is there a light socket with both wires touching? You have to be the eyes, no one can do this over the internet. gadgeteer123 04-18-08, 10:43 AM well i remember it was the right turn signal and just the positive wire was touching the body, it is currently fixed now the whole front end has been replaced, i can let you know what the fuse protects later today or tomorrow. gadgeteer123 04-19-08, 05:15 PM ..??? i need help. | |
