My 2008 CTS: Crystal Red, Cashmere, DI, MX0, FE2, P75, UAV, No Sunroof, PDR, Y42, Y44. Order Date: 8/23/07, Build Date: 9/07, Delivery Date:10/27/07.
I empathize with anyone that has had issues or problems with any new automobile. Whatever we purchase new we expect it to operate flawlessly. I have been told by an auto service manager that each new car sold has an allowance for warranty work built in to the price of the vehicle, I don't know this for sure but it makes sense to me. If this is true, then the maker is not expecting the car to operate flawlessly. Everyone has different expectations, I expect some problems at sometime during the ownership of my CTS.
As of near 5,000 miles I have not had one issue or problem. Everything has worked as I expected, which is probably better than GM expected. I think folks that do experience problems are more quick to express their dissatisfaction, than folks like me that are satisfied are to express our satisfaction.
Over the last forty-five years I have owned everything from MGB, Sunbeam Tiger, Toyota, Jeep Grand Waggoneer, RX8 to my current CTS. The only one of these and several cars I've owned that I did not have any problems with within the first 5,000 miles is the CTS. Some had multiple problems, especially two GM products that made me swear in the mid-seventies I would never own another GM product.
I kept that promise until I purchased my '08 CTS, so far, for me at least, it has lived up to its pre-production reputation. I am extremely pleased with this car and I will continue to express my pleasure and pride of ownership with this car.
