It looks like the Nav system will also have a 10 inch screen according to the information in the online order guide.

I am at 9 weeks and waiting for a production date for my ordered CTS (DI, PDQ, Black Cherry/Ebony) and I am going to have to decide quickly whether I want to walk away from this order and shoot for an '09. None of the changes on the '09 really interest me but at this point by the time mine is built I am buying a new car that is effectively a model year old which does make a difference at trade in time in the future. I am looking at the numbers although the newly announced $1,000 loyalty incentive helps a bit.

That's IT!!!?????????????????? That's all there is?

Still no EPB? No Paddle Shifters? No Rear Camera?.......

Maybe the Mem seats will work as advertised?

Seems to me that there is absolutely nothing there to tempt me.

Southern,

There are a few other changes and the paddle shifter is available but only with the summer tire package. Take a look at: http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/vehiclesel.jsp?year=2009&regionID=1&divisionID=5 and choose print book (it goes to your screen and not your printer) and choose CTS and the changes are highlighted in red. There are not many and it is hard to tell from the image in the guide but the new nav control panel looks like it has two disc slots. It may be the picture but it doesn't look terribly attractive (the control section) compared to the current system.

It is not. After comparing pictures, I can say that what they show in the CTS order guide is a picture coming from the audio system of the STS.

Another change seems to be around the J55 break package. In 2008 this was included in the Y43 package, and the Y42 package with AWD. I'm having a hard time understanding what the story is for 2009. It appears to me it's required in Y43 and available on all models now.

Anyone know when we will see prices?

I was really leaning toward the Light Platinum (now replaced by Radiant Silver) or Thunder Gray, but now I'm seriously being pulled by the Blue Diamond Tricoat. NICE!!!

On pricing information, even though the ordering information is now public at the eogld web site, I was informed by a local dealership that pricing won't be available until it's no longer possible to order an '08. They said to actually not expect to see pricing until June or July. As a point of reference, the '08's pricing was publicized in July '07--so that's right on track if the past is any indicator.

Get this--even though pricing is not yet public, I was told I will be offered an '09 at $500 over invoice! They will contact me when there's some real numbers to work with. How cool is that? :cool2:

Also, flash to pass....

Universal Home Remote and Bluetooth are now included in the Y44 Seating Package, grr. :banghead:. Memory Package now includes something called "driver personalization" (climate & radio presets, maybe?). I have to check and see if I have "articulating head restraints", because that's one of my least favorite features in the car.

How are the driver and passenger head restraints (headrests) adjusted?

Southern
04-14-08, 04:11 PM
I think they are talking about the "active" headrests that they came out with in December that allowed some super duper rating from the Insurance Institute.......there's a big thread about it somewhere......well, anyway, this (2009)will be the first full year it will be standard on all seats........
It just moves the headrest Forward, if you are hit from the rear..... cuts way down on whiplash injuries......GM is late to the party on this one,but I am glad they did it and my 2008 has it..........

I change mine ALL the time. I like to drive with the windows down when it's nice, so I turn it off. Can't let the A.C. leak out! I like to turn it off when it's cold (45-50) and I'm on a long drive (I guess I like it cool in the cabin) I turn it down to between 65 and 70 when it's cool out, and up to around 75 when it's hot out. I would use steering wheel climate control all the time. I'd probably only use the temp though, I do leave it on auto because I've never had a car with auto fan that actually worked before.

It is on the 2008 Saturn Aura, it is called Carbon Flash . I think it looks too dark and since the metallic flake is scattered lightly more towards the surface, it looks like thre is overspray or pollen on the surface, i keep wanting to wipe it off, haha.

Does anyone know if the 09 model will offer the Direct Injection engine with Manual transmission on an FE2 suspension? I believe the 08 DI manual is only available on an FE3 suspension with Summer tires. I want a manual, the DI, but not Summer tires (I live in the Northeast) and I think the FE3 suspension will be too hard.

Where did you get your information?? Straight from Dealerworld:

Audio system with navigation, AM/FM stereo with CD/DVD player, MP3 playback, Bose 5.1 Cabin Surround Sound 10-speaker system and HDD-based navigation with XM NavTraffic/Real Time Weather, 8" pop-up screen, Radio Data System (RDS), 40GB Hard Drive Device (HDD), USB with audio connectivity and steering wheel controls
1 - Included in (PDQ) CTS Premium Collection. Requires (PDP) CTS Luxury Collection or (PDR) CTS Performance Collection. Not available with (PDW) Performance Luxury Package or (U2S) AM/FM stereo with CD/DVD player, MP3 playback and Bose 5.1 Cabin Surround Sound 10-speaker system.

Very clearly states 8" screen. I do believe a 10" screen would require a dashboard redesign.

One change listed on the 2009 CTS product information sheet says: "(PDQ) CTS Premium Collection now includes (Y42) 18" All-Season Tire Performance Package." Does that mean that you cannot get the PDQ Premium Collection package without the 18" all-season tire package and FE2 suspension? I'm not sure I really want the 18" all-season tire package, as we plan to get an AWD CTS and are in the Chicago area. I believe the regular 17" all-season tires would be better.

My guess is they are trying to set the foundatons for a series.... Here is my reasoning:

We all know that the V, coupe, wagon, and maybe convertible are in the works.
The reason for making certain options restricted is the same reason they changed the packages in mid 08.
They want to target base model customers, luxury customers, and performance customers with the same car.
They are trying to do much what BMW does so well, minimal changes to a vehicle while attracting the widest audience.

My $.02

That color is also on the current Saturn Aura, the color is called "Carbon Flash" or something like that, and too dark for my tastes and looks like there is pollen or dust on the car becasue the metallic flakes are scattered infrequently (compared to regular blended metallic colors) and more or less on top of the color base layer, so you can see the actual flakes

The new Radiant Silver is not on any GM car, past or present, and will unfortuntaley be on a lot of 2009 GM cars right down to the Chevys, so dont expect it to be anything special or brilliant like Mercedes Silver, but we can always hope

I just received notice last Saturday that my 2009 has been built and should be here in about 2 weeks. Everything that I originally ordered on the 2008 is there except the polished aluminum wheels for the all season tires. My dealer said they are not available at the moment. His thinking is that they are changing suppliers. The sticker is very simple...not sure if it is what will be on the car, but it just shows PDQ Premium Collection at $10,100 MSRP and then lists all options as N/C. Hopefully they will carry the 0% interest into July. I'm sure it will be for all GM cars except CTS with all my luck!!! I'm anxious to go pick it up and drive it.

Hey, my first day on the forum.:cool2:

I am in the Chicago area as well:highfive:, and have the same dilema. I want the paddle shifters, but do not want the 18s and tight sport suspension either. How badly will the tight suspension affect winter driving. I would be happy with 17 alloys and get a 20in set for the summer. My AWD Jag X-type is great in the snow and I would like the same out of a CTS4. I wanna trade the cat in for the CTS4:cool:. I think the base suspension would best for me.

2 and 3 must have been mid year changes. I have a very early model 08 and those were my observations after sitting in an 09.

You have to take the FE3 package. They are included with the 18" (45.7 cm) Summer Tire Performance Package and 6-speed automatic transmission. I remember that I have seen a picture of shifters behind the steering wheel of a 09 CTS on this forum.

Got an 09 with the paddles (really butons), they do only come with Summer Tire. I will say they are fun though, nobody can see them but you know they are there. When you take people out you can just place into sport mode and then pop a down shift for some fun cornering :yup:. They never see it coming.

That's correct, unfortunately!

From the Car Guy Newsletter (Dallas/Ft. Worth):

GM will introduce their new Cadillac CTS coupe In November at the Los Angeles Auto show. This ends much speculation about whether or not it will be built. Sources say that the sporty luxury coupe will go into production in May of next year. Coming soon however is the wagon version of the CTS.

Here in the UK the 3.6DI have them as standard.

In fact the only options seem to be colour (color for the American!) and sunroof/moonroof. Otherwise the car is loaded with everything. But no AWD!

Hi, first post. :) Considering a car to replace my long-since sold BMW 540i, the Best Car I've Ever Owned™, and the CTS is looking all right...particularly in Black Cherry. :D

So my question: if I'm reading the Order Guide correctly, it appears that for 2009 you can get a DI CTS with a manual IF you pick up the Y43 Summer Tire Package...am I reading that right?

well couldnt resist the GM employee discount so pulled the trigger on a 09 metallic red, cashmere interior, premium luxury package, less AWD and the DI engine...drove both and opted for the base engine...personal preference....car coming in tonight from another dealer...should take delivery in the next day or two...was hoping to get it in March..but had to delay for personal reasons....timing is everything with the employee discount....

Similar to UK in Germany you can chose 2.8 V6 Elegance or sport luxury or 3.6 DI Sport Luxury with manual or automatic transmission, but also the AWD.
Then, of course, the colors of the ex- and interior (only cashmere/cocoa, silver or ebony/ebony). Convenience Package (ventilated seats, memory package, EZ Key, keyless entry and remote start), UltraView Sunroof, Woodpackage, 10 speaker Bose and DVD/NAV are options.

That's it... but it is a lot easier this way. I want everything anyway (except for the wood and I regret there is no ebony/cashmere).
