I just picked up my Lade from the shop. I got the McGaulghy Deluxe kit...2 inch in the frontand 3 inches in the back. The back looks fine but front looks like it hasn't been lowered. The guy at the shop told me i need to get the front aligned because right now...if you look at the car from the front, the front wheels are forming a V shape. He said..after i get the wheeled aligned the front should drop down a bit because right now...the front is arching up.

For all you that used this drop kit. Did you have this problem?????? let me know thanks.. And how much you paid to get your truck dropped??

Thanks

Any time you raise or lower your truck you should get it aligned, but I do not think that you will see a lot more lowering after alignment

If you only want to do it once take your truck to a high performance shop like this:http://www.tirerack.com/installer/InstallerDetail.jsp?index=2&addressAdmin=false&zipCode=98122&installermiles=2. Midas and Goodyear just don't cut it anymore for me.

I just picked up my 04 ESV from the shop, yesterday. Got the McGaughy's 2/3 kit installed as well. I did not have the problem that you have.

Is the shop you took it to experienced in Escalade drops? They should have gotten the alignment done on your 02 before you even picked it up. Are you sure that they installed the McGaughy's kit with the drop spindle? I have seen trucks lowered where the front wheels have a v shape outwards, but it is usually when a drop spindle is not used. Maybe they just adjusted your torsion bars. You don't get as much drop that way.

What did they charge you?

they did not mess with my torsion bar at all....they said..they just installed the spindles......i was on 3 way with the lady at McGaughy and the tech said they did whateva the instructions were and the lady said they did it right. But the front looks like it hasn't dropped at all. The gap is better in the front wheels than the back wheel. Is your gap bigger in the front also?? did you noticed a substantial drop on your front wheels?? And did your shop mess with your torsion bar at all??? if you have pics please post. Thanks

The shop I went to did not adjust the torsion bar. The 2 inch drop comes directly from the new spindle.

The gap on mine on the front is not bigger than the gap on my back wheels (and shouldn't be on yours). You will notice a change in the gap on the back, but it is harder to notice the change in the front. Once the whole vehicle has been lowered you kinda' forget what the gap looked like before, unless you have one right next to it to compare it to. What I did was measure the gap in front & back before I took mine in and then measured it afterwards. The front came down right at 2inchs. I also knew it was lower in the front when I noticed that my wheels rubbed when I turned the wheel all the way to one direction. It is very little and isn't even noticable while driving. (They didn't rub before.)

I assume from your name "Esco23s" that you have 23" wheels. I have 22" so the gap will be different. Also the gaps are probably different from the ESV & Escalade.

Can you physically see the spindle that they installed. They should stick out slightly below the rotor.

The McGaughy spindle kit will not cause the tires to V, I don't think they installed the Spindles, I think they just lowered it using the torsion bars, this is not the right way. Did you buy the right kit with the spindles?????

If you install just spindles you don't even have to deal with the alignment, the geometry is exactly the same as the factory.

Actually the mcgaughys kit does make the wheels stick out on top about 2 degrees you have to do some mods to sit it in. Mine u notice the drop big time I am right at my tires with the mcgaughys kit

I myself would have got the torsion drop, not the spindles. Yes it is a good kit but with mine i can drop it more w/the torsion keys.3/4 drop, i can lay it on the bump stoppers but it bounces too much so i had it raised up 3/4" more. still it looks low and i drive slow!

when i had my 2004 ext done, it was very noticeable, my mechanic also did a computer alignment and it wasnt off but just a slight bit (was there to verify). I think they did something wrong. Oh yeah the installation and alignment was about 200.00
