In our '04 EXT the dealer replaced the temp sensor because we complaned that frequently the displayed temp was 10 degrees higher than the outside air. He said he had a bulletin on it. Now it's better, sometimes off by 4 or 5 degrees (always higher). It seems after sitting in traffic it reads high but when you first start the truck or are moving it's closer to the actual temperature. Does anyone know where the temp sensor is located? The designer's couldn't have put it where it was influenced by the hot exhaust or engine? Could they?:hmm:

i don't know....but i always wondered it. the problem is there's not many places you can put it that would give you an acurate reading. especially if you have a dark color car. i've found, like you, if you're driving or first starting up (unless it's been baking in a parking lot) it's accurate. and most of the winter it's accurate. but if you're sitting in traffic, just subtract a few degrees.

on a STS it in front of the rad, and that is about only place to put , as it has to be in the air steam to get a true reading , if you are sitting in traffic then the heat from the rad will heat up the sensor

As said above you have to keep moving for a while because the sensor is right next to the radiator. :)
