Hmm. This is an wierd. Yesterday my XM button was suddenly locked out on my radio. I was listening to it but after turning off the car for a little while then starting it up I found that I could only access XM by using the voice command mode. It would switch to XM but I heard nothing and my display was blank. No titles, station, nothing. After a couple seconds the radio would switch by itself to FM. It did this like 6 or 7 times. After I got home I waited about a half hour and started up the car and the radio worked fine. I wonder if it was an XM thing whereby the radio needed to be refreshed or something?
I have an appointment next week with my dealer and will ask them about it.
BTW, I renewed for a year before my trial expired.

Same thing happen to me about a month ago. Just like you, after turning the car off for 30 minutes and restart......everything was fine.
Yes, that is "an weird." Chances are that the XM module timed out during the radio's intitial poll of all the components so the radio thought the XM module didn't exist. This could happen for a number of reasons. Low battery at startup is a common cause. Generally overloading of the GMLAN for whatever reason could also cause this hiccup. It's nothing to worry about if it works again on the next polling which happens everytime you start the car. Computers always mess up once in a while.

I occasionally had this hickup on my '03 Yukon as well. XM just didn't register. Only happened to me once our twice in the 4 years I owned the thing though. Cleared up with the next restart, which was usually the next morning.

Sometimes I think that it's the XM transmisson that's at fault. Not our radios.

For whatever reason, it has happened to me 3 or 4 times using remote start. Very annoying!

Having had a Sirius radio for three years now, I can attest to the fact that on occasion, the radio needs to do a software update, which renders it useless. I assume that as this happens on the XM system, the CTS audio system is disabling it. I'll bet that if you guys post the exact times and dates of these occurences, they will be very similar.

Could be a coincidence, but the only time I have had issues is when I have used the remote start.
I thought there was a TSB out there about faulty tuner modules?

Same thing for me. It has happened twice but I didn't panic because I have seen it listed elsewhere in this forum. Turn the car off and wait (not sure how long) and it works again. Not sure what triggers it.

xm website has a button to "refresh" the radio. it does not renew the subscription. is this related, like the receiver sometimes needs a kick start?
