I am thinking in the next few weeks about powder coating my wheels similar to this color. Like a matte gun metal. I just did a quick photoshop but what do you guys think? I will have the tail lights tinted and tinted fog lights. Would it flow or be too much?

Maybe paint the calipers red or leave silver.

I like the gunmetal better then black, but your pictures don't have a proper comparison to the color of the car.

Well this was a 2 second photoshop so I didn't do the calipers. Sorry about that. I do plan on leaving the calipers silver though.

I think these would look bitchin in gunmetal.

Just don't clean the wheels and the brake dust will give a nice 100% natural dirty wheel look.

I agree! That color looks sweet.

hey ask whisler for pictures of his car (or look at the pictures near the end of the Dallas meet thread)... he has the same color as you, and he's painted his wheels... they look awesome.

I'd like to see that. Just got my rims on, and I like the polished look, but it won't hurt to get some new ideas. :D

Oh yeah, this is a thread about your rims.
They lool tough, I kinda like it. Just don't know if I'd do it to my car.

I like gunmetal on silver. .02

Thanks for the opinions. I think I am going to be doing it mid May.

Luvmy04: I want to stay with a matte color and I think the black chrome might be a little to shiny.

I agree with Stealth- you're paying to have your wheels look permanently dirty.

Maybe he doesn't want to have to continually clean the rims? :alchi:

Like the idea of the Gunmetal grey wheels, I was thinking of doing it to the Accessory wheels but I don't know how they would look on the Stealth Gray.

here's a better picture of whisler's wheels, that i took in september of last year:

the first two are whisler's car (which looks awesome, by the way).
third are kevin's - the owner of Horsepower engineering.

Whisler's does look pretty good. I just want something a little darker than that.

I think your sig pic looks 100% better than the photoshopped gunmetal wheels. I was in your same boat when I got my car. I wanted to powder coat them similar to the C6 Comp Grey color, but after having the silver painted wheels on a silver car, they just fit the car so much better.

No more pics sorry. This was just a photoshop of what I want to do to my rims.

Does anyone have any links to pics of a Platinum CTSV with black powder coated stock rims??

I too am considering this... I think the silver to gunmetal contrast is BALLER! Let alone, cost efficient... I would keep the lugs chrome to help accent the front grilles too.

I prefer Black Chrome but still haven't seen a good picture on a Silver V.

I like the photoshop job you did. Thats the color I wanted mine. I did a basic gunmetal and it came out way too light! Here are a few pics to show the contrast from stock...

You have to squint your eyes and stare 'till its blurry to see the wheels...

I'm sorry, but I've been trying for the last 10 minutes and I can barely even see a car there, much less wheels.
