: Roof rack cross bars

I am thinking about removing the two cross rails on my roof rack. I saw an Escalade the other day and it looked pretty nice.
Anyone know how to remove them, I am sure there are hidden screws somewhere but I could not see them.

anyone have any ideas??
There was a post a long time ago about removal of them, if I remember correctly you have to start by removing the end caps, which can be a pain
i removed mines and i posted it on here...
Thanks for finding that. :)

I am still a bit puzzled as to how to remove the plastic end caps. I was at the dealer today but they forgot to answer that question for me and that rain was quickly approaching so I had to get my lade home (I don't drive it in the rain). :) I have tugged on them a bit...

I pulled my centre racks but left the sides on still, you have to get a straight screw driver on the end of the cap and gentle pry upwards, theres a small clip that holds it on in the centre.the small clip will probablt stay on the small pole when you pull off which you can reaattach again afterwards.slid your rails out, done,If you proceed further i don't know how you will fill the holes if pulling sides as well

My 2005 Escalade did not come with cross rails and I would really like to buy some! Does anyone know where to get some? My dealer no longer carries them! Thanks!

If I can get mine off, I have not tried the screwdriver yet, I will give mine to you. I will try it in the next couple days, worst case, I will take it to the dealer and have them pull them off. I just don't want to break the end caps.
Liquid, where are you located?

Hey that would be great! We are located in Washington State. I need them for a trip by the end of the month. I would pay for shipping if you manage to get them off pretty soon. Otherwise, I did manage to locate Yukon cross rails that I think might fit on, and I might try those.

I will work on it tonight. If I can't get them off I will take it to the dealer tomorrow and have them show me how to do it (pending it does not rain here, I don't drive mine in bad weather). So, I can ship early next week, I have a box that will work, I will bubble wrap them. They have a fade spot on the passenger side, but I assume that will not be a problem.

That would be great! I really appreciate your trouble. I've been trying to find them forever!! If I didn't drive mine in the rain I never would, on the Pacific Coast all it has been doing for the last eight months is rain!!! How do I send you my address?

I have a crappy car that I drive most of the time, 1990 Toyota Corolla with 290,000 miles. That dude still gets almost 40 mpg's. :) I will PM you for your address, be looking for the message, will be sending it now.

Got your PM. Hope you find someone to show you how to get them off (and it doesn't rain!) lol. I wonder if I will have a hard time getting the cross rails installed?

I have them off, had to have a body shop take them off. I will ship out on Monday to you. You should have either you local caddy dealer put them on or have a body shop.
