I just purchased a 2004 Escalade AWD. I have a question about the following spaces on the dash board:

Open space next to drivers left AC vent--what is this space for? It looks like an afterthough. Was it previously used for some think or is used for some on the GMC or Tahoe?

Blank space above the rear assist on off and the stabitrac on off--It looks like some accessory could be there, but from what I can tell my Escalade has all accessories except the rear DVD player

Thanks

The open space on the left is where the Chevy's and Yukon's have the push button four wheel Drive buttons.
On the right, is a design that has been out dated. It was used for air bag shutoff for trucks, and Onstar before it was incorporated into the rear view mirror. That area is no longer used (Above the parking sensor and traction control buttons). I installed a 4" monitor in that location and moved the onstar under the dash, in my 2000 Tahoe. But that was a few cars ago!
Hope that clears things up for you.
