Would it be possible to fit a TH325-4L transmission to a 368cid with the 4-6-8 ? I guess the tranny itself should fit since the stock tranny is a TH325, but will it prevent the 4-6-8 from working ? And will it be thought enough for the torque the engine produce ? With the current gaz price, I'm thinking more and more about doing that swap.

Thought the TH400 was stock on a 368, or TH425 on Eldos.
Well, it is on a 1981 Seville, maybe there wasn't enough room for the TH425 !

Ah the Seville, I always forget about the Seville. Well Sevilles had 350s not 368s, so it wouldn't be too easy.

The only 350 offered in the Seville in '81 was the Olds diesel (standard equip.). The V8-6-4 was optional along with the Buick V6.
I could be wrong but I believe the variable-displacement function worked off the transmission somehow. If I'm not mistaken, to disable the system, people just disconnected a wire from the trans. If that is true, I doubt the trans will work.....there may be other issues too.

Christ, I'll shut up now.
Ok, thanks, that is what I wanted to know.
Yes, there's a switch on the tranny when it get on third gear to tell the ECU it can switch to 4 or 6 cylinders, but I didn't know if the TH325-4L had that switch too. :hmm:

Christ, I'll shut up now.;)
but I didn't know if the TH325-4L had that switch too.Like I said, I could be wrong but if the switch was only used for the V8-6-4 function, I don't see why they would carry it over to another trans that it isn't needed on.
