Hi
does anyone know where the sensor is for the trunk light?
I want to install a neon tube in which when the trunk open then it will turn on

I believe the trunk light uses a gravity or mercury switch which turns the light on when the trunk lid is about halfway open - it's part of the light itself, so the contacts are internal. Also, there's a timer in the RIM (Rear Integration Module) which turns the light off after 10 minutes if the trunk is left open.

alright well i slid the light off and i found 2 wires connecting to it, one goes to the light, the other to some other small box. what should i connect the neon to?

Take your multimeter (VOM, decent one is $17.95 at Radio Shack) and figure out which is the 12V hot lead. Hot all the time. Try the neon in series with the ground lead: the gravity switch will turn on the original light, the current will flow through the neon starter to ground. (Maybe.) There might just be too much current flow in the circuit which will blow fuses. Many, many posts about how Cadillacs do not like stuff added to various signal and light circuits, because the extra load affects other equipment, and neon is an AC load, so you may well generate a spurious signal frequency which will mess up some other modules.

Otherwise, go to the rear fuse box and tap into the power feed and install a completely separate lighting circuit, FUSED ! Mercury or gravity attitude switches are a dime a dozen.

Alright i will try it tomorrow....but just one thing as i mentioned before..there are two wires that lead to the light (2 wires). One leads to the light itself but the other to some small box with 4 wires leading to it. Is the Box the sensor?

This is the image of what im talking about.
What is the box circled?

That box is your Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. And the RKE module does not switch the lamp.

The lamp is illuminated by a switch that is part of the trunk release solenoid.

Alright well instead i tryed connecting it to the light (Red, black wire and black and white wire) but when I cut the cover to the wire there was slight sparks. I decided to wrap electrical tape on it and put it back into the light. The light does not work...:annoyed:...any suggestions on what to do?
