Hi all. Looking at trading in the 99 DeVille. It is still a great car, but I miss the everyday ride of my old Fleetwood Brougham's. Our local Cadillac Dealership recently took trade on a Red 1990 Brougham D'Elegance. It only has 30,000 miles. I owned a 86 D'Elegance and a 1990 Std. Brougham. I love that era of automobiles. This one doesn't have the Chevy 350 like my old 90, but I like that old Olds 307 from my 86's.
I 'borrowed' it for the day and traveled around about 80 miles to see how it was. Well, it was an awesome ride and rememberance of my former Brougham's. Looking to work a deal with them. That will turn the counter to 8 Cadillac's I have owned, and 6 of them being Fleetwood/Broughams.
My current lineup is - 99 DeVille, 65 Fleetwood & 75 Fleetwood Brougham.

I say you turn in your '99 before the headgasket blows, and start enjoying a full size Brougham again. Hopefully you wont be out any money on the trade, but I don't know if the dealer will be that forgiving..
Let us know how it goes.

The 307 is a good motor and will last a long time, but it is too underpowered for these cars IMO. How much are they asking for this one?
There are some good 305 5.0 TBI and 350 TBI deals out there.

They are asking 7,900. The NADA is like around 8,000 due to the low mileage. I know the owner of the dealership, so he is giving it to me for 6,500. Then the difference on my car brings it to 4,000. I think that is right.
Yes, I know all about those olds 307's. I had two 86 Broughams with it. They are not known for their power, but they last forever and are very good on the gas mileage. The one I owned averaged 25.3 one trip to Florida...
I also had the 350 in a 90 Brougham. Yes, lots more power, but lots less on gas. I seldom hit 22 on trips.
I would be satisfied with the 307 in this since there are only 30,xxx miles. That would last me a long time.
By the way--- driving the 65 Fleetwood today........now there is some power and a ride... :yup::yup:

Well, I just got off the phone with my sales mananger at the dealership. I am going to unload the 99 Deville, and be sporting around in a 1990 Cadillac Brougham D'Elegance. None too soon as I will be traveling from Iowa to Pennsylvania tomorrow night. A nice 1,700 mile round trip for the car to get some exercise. I will get pictures uploaded after I return..
