That is about as classy as I've seen, in addition to another guy's I know who used a CTS centerpiece on his.
Mine? Well, no holes to plug...just a genuine LT1 Camaro 1LE solid elbow:

Of course, my first experiment was a yellow hockey puck in the stock elbow.
Really, "homeplate" or not, I noticed zero difference, but oh well. I've been trying to find a proper spot for a Cadillac emblem underhood for quite some time. I just used a black puck, $1 at sports store.... But I put home plate back on to keep some heat there..... 96Fleetwood 04-02-08, 08:06 AM For the price they are going for you can get a 1LE elbow that looks much cleaner and seals 100%. jayoldschool 04-02-08, 08:52 AM For the price they are going for you can get a 1LE elbow that looks much cleaner and seals 100%.
Show me where you can get a 1LE elbow for that price.
I use a billet plug in mine. It was there when I bought it, or it would have gotten a hockey puck:thumbsup: Cadillacboy 04-02-08, 11:11 AM It looks a cool item :bouncy: How well does it fit? I use the hockey puck and carefully match it inside to be the least flow distrubance, not really caring how it looks on top. But I am running home plate too still but not hooking it up, might even cut the part that connects to the elbow just to make it smoother looking. Right now the home plate sits up a tad on the stock elbow/puck.
I would love to have a 1LE elbow....

I got my 1LE elbow from eBay for $58.00 shipped off eBay. can somone show me on a photo how it looks original,
dont remember and dont have my car here,,
have seen this before, and would be a nice think to have under the hood
Edit, i remember whats sits there now, but what does it do ??
and is it good to remove it ?? ShadowLvr400 04-03-08, 06:29 PM I yanked the whole thing, and am running a RAISS ram air system. I like it a lot more than the factory rig. jayoldschool 04-03-08, 08:55 PM Did you see what the last couple went for? $40-$50 PLUS shipping.

Hah, yes! This is mine when I bought it, hmm, a little over 2 years ago:

Oddly enough, I now remember how much I liked this look--but I always have a thing for clean stock. Big and bulky, I kind of miss the "homeplate". Well, now that it's gone to this, even though I've noticed no difference in effect:

^^Mostly an effect of just playing with taking things out...and curious at what the popular el-cheapo PVC pipe combined with a 1LE elblow I bought would be like.
Always still wanted a RAISS, and was even making my own variety of one, before just not caring anymore. For effect, it is of course the best in theory. The best effect Ive noticed by not having home plate on my 96 anymore is the fact that mice dont have a permanent place to keep rebuilding their filthy condos. I was constantly pulling fiberglass and other assorted flotsam and jetsam out from underneath mine. I hates mices. That is a good point, I rarely have had issues, but have seen where I thought a mouse was trying to move in..... | |
