I just installed the GM hitch on an 07 with the Sport Facia. You do have to cut out the marked area on the facia, and you have to loosen the plastic supports that attach the middle of the facia at the bottom to the bottom of the bumper. You do this from below, not above, and you need not remove them or trim them, but you do need to loosen them prior to fitting the GM hitch. It was a PITA. Took me about 3 hours as I had to go buy a 10MM hex driver at the store in the middle of it. I would do it again, but I was sore for a good day afterwards.

I wanted the full 2" receiver for my 07 (with the sport facia) No cutting, no trimming - just lowered the exhaust - fit perfect. It was heavy, so that was the worst part of the install, had my son push one side up while I started 1 bolt, then went to the other side and got 1 bolt in, the remaing 4 bolts were a piece of cake. I removed my heat shields as well as this hitch has heavy metal between the mufflers and the spare. (I have Corsa mufflers) That being said - the end of the receiver tube does extend and 2.5" beyong the facia. I am willing to live with it because the hitch I purchased was so well constructed - I feel very safe with it when towing heavier loads. Sorry - no pic. The brand I used is CURTIS. I think the factory GM unit is made pretty good - but when I looked it was only available as a 1.25" reciever. Is my hitch "hidden" ? - no not in anyway, you see the tube and the 2 main supports from the back, it is powdercoated black so we shall see how well the finish holds up.

Thanks for the update, still up in the air, some people say cut and some others don't. Waiting for the Dealership to give me a firm ya or na, since I will go with the GM Unit and Installation, so if/when they screw it up their responsible.

Nothing is their responsiblity, so keep in mind if they have to fix it the job will be to thier standards not yours.

Not saying they will mess it up but if they do....

I have a 2" hidden hitch I think on our 04 and it looks just like a hitch, you can't hide it but it does give us 2" of room before we hit the bumper.

I'll take a picture of the GM Hitch on the sport and post it tomorrow. The GM hitch is very well made. Solid thick plate metal with a reinforcement bar near the tubular cross bar. It does have the drawback of being a 1 1/4" receiver. But I'll also take a picture of the solution for that too. ;)
