I need some help here. For the 6th time one of my Fog Light/Driving Lamps is out.

This issue being typical to lots og GM products I have seen driving down the road with one with bulb on.

Anyway I am freaking pissed at the dealer. There response is your getting them replaced for free so whats the big deal. I have had the car less than 2 years and the lights vary on the side that fails. Anyone got a solution or a suggestion or even how to get someone to care.

Strangely enough I see nothing here on the issue but I bet I pass one or two a week in Atlanta with the lights out.

TIA

Yeah, this has been a problem on GM's. Since they're on most of the time they don't last very long and on some cars/trucks the plastic socket burns/melts be cause of the heat. You might try a different bulb manufacturer to see if they last any longer.

If you are trying to say that the lights on one side are flickering, that means that there is a bad connection or wiring that needs to be fixed. Wiggle the wiring and connectors until you find it.

the funny thing this been happening to me for the last 3 months, the dealer fixed it 5 times already. but usually when they fix it, it will work for about 3 days and go out again. and for 2 weeks all lights were working again, and then the begining of march both my right headlight and left fog light went out. the dealer fixed my headlight last monday but my fog light came back on the night before i went to the dealership... the reason i am upset about it is because my car has been with the dealer 5 times all day and they didnt give me a loaner car or rental, so i had to wait hours there from 9am to 4pm..

can you tell if water is getting into the light housing, and moisture is causing the bulbs to go bad? Otherwise I wonder if the voltage is off somehow causing the lights to burn out more quickly...

Cocaines; If you car is certified or still under warranty you should get a loaner for warranty work.

The first week I had my car, the passenger side one went out. It was soon after a car wash.. :hmm:

yeah it still under GMPP extended warranty, i keep telling them that, and they are usually like it will only take an hour to get it fixed and it usually takes all day. one time it took 2 days, so the ended up payin $25 to taxi me home. instead of just giving me the $40 rental. The issues i have been getting with my dealer lately has caused me to really consider never letting a cadillac dealer touch my car again. No moisture on condensation is in my lights. but the first time the fixed it, the very next day there was, but they fixed that when the light went out 2 days later.

one thing i dont buy, is my headlights went out a week ago, they then came back on a couple days later, then went out again while driving at night, i got a ticket. but the funny thing when my car is parked and off, if i press the trunk unlock or door unlock the headlights came on fine, but when i turn the car on to drive only the left side headlights would work.

the dealer told me that my light just blew when they fixed it and charged me $188 to change the bulb, $18 for the bulb 170 in labour to remove the bumper and put it back on to get to the bulb. but i dont understand if the bulb blew how did it come back on a few days later working fine, and then go back out, and how did it work whenever i unlocked the door with the FOB. the dealer said the light has 2 different fuses for bulbs some BS like that, i was just tired for being there all day i choose not to argue anymore, i had places to be and needed my car to get there.

But is the dealer correct about 2 fuses within the bulbs for the headlamp, so that the light can work for one function but not the other... and how does that explain the headlamps coming back on all of a sudden prior to it going out again the very next day

It's not necessarily the bulb, it could be the bulb receptacle. My Oldsmobile Intrigue had the chronic problem of a bad socket. Bending the pins outwardly slightly and adding a little dielectric silicon grease went a long way in correcting this problem for me. It sounds suspiciously similar to me that that is your problem.

You had to pay?? That should be covered.

they said dead bulb replacement isnt covered... but i was arguing for 20 minutes that they bulb couldnt be dead if it went out then came back later then went out again. and it wouldnt of be dead if the lights still comes on when i press unlock on my fob. but they just stuck with thier story that it is dead.

It sounds to me like you are right and they are wrong but I can't tell you what you can do about it except to go someplace else to have your work done.

I agree, go to a different dealer...........and it's bumper to bumper...bulbs included!!!!!!!!!!

Again, it's probably not the bulb, the dealer needs to check the socket or the wiring.

:tisk: They're screwing u... find another dealer ASAP. I just got mine replaced and it was covered. In fact.. I would call up Cadillac customer service and see if you can get a refund. I don't think the warranty is different in Canada is it??
