I am new to this forum but used to be an Escalade EXT owner.
Will be picking up the new '08 V-8 4.6L AWD Thursday (Raven Black/ Ebony.)
They are doing the simonize treatment for an additional $225 but it is warranted for 5 years against acid rain spots etc.
So, they say I need to bring it in for an oil change at 8000 miles...$90
Should I follow their advice or continue to follow the oil monitor on the DIC.
Has anyone had any problems with the FOB interfereing with cell phones inside car or electrical wires overhead where the car will not start because the car doesn't detect the FOB?
Also, I wish to start using Amsoil 5-30 because I hear it is a better product than the Mobil 1.

Number one, you don't have a "V", so hopefully that was just a typo;)

Beyond that, the Simonize is just a wax/seal job and regardless of warranty, big deal. It's usually one thing that everyone chuckles at and says no thanks, at least if you're at all familiar with keeping your vehicle detailed. Then again, the warranty might mean more to you.

Oil change can go by the monitor, yes, especially if you change to a quality oil like Amsoil, etc. Dealers aren't always the best to learn from as far as intervals. And on that note, you could make the oil switch at your first oil change or just after a few thousand miles of break-in with the stock oil. Doesn't matter either way.

Odd about the FOB...really nothing different than any other car, and you shouldn't have any issues with it (if the Lock/Unlock/Trunk/Start/Panic is what you're talking about). Should just work, without issue, and I'm not sure why you would think that would have any effect on cell phones. Unless you're also talking about the Bluetooth function that syncs to your cell phone, through the audio system?

I think you should have the 'factory' oil changed @ 3k and then go by the DIC oil life % from then on. As far as the FOB you might have to reprogram your settings.
