I just wanted some different oppions on this and to see what other people have done. If you put 23's on your truck do you have to change the brakes? If so what are some good kinds and what am I looking at price wise for the whole setup? I dont need a super top of the line set, but a nice set not cheapo. If you dont change the brakes how bad is the braking with the stock setup and is there any risk of serious damage? Also is my tires are 305/40/23 is that the best size and is my spedo going to be off,if so how much?? Will cadillac recalibrate my spedo for these wheels if I need it done. Last question does this void my factory warrenty in any way? :hmm: :hmm: Any help apperciated.

thanks

Do you have to change your brakes? No you do not have to, but if you drive aggressively (in general) you will find your truck taking longer to stop. I get a chance to drive many customers trucks and with 22-26's the stopping distance required is greater than with the stock wheels and tires. The 23' tires are 1" larger than stock in overall height, that means at 60 mph your speedo will be reading 58.1 mph. I do not know if your dealer will correct your speedo, but you can also do that with a Preditor and I believe also Hypertech will do this. You should not have any warranty issues except brake pad or rotor problems that they will say is a result of running bigger wheels and tires. :)

thanks for the help. So is that tire size the best fit for an escalade as far as ride quality and closest to factory size?

You should know that the bigger the wheel, the increase of unsprung weight. This will be a issue, it effects handling and braking of the truck. You could improve the factory brakes with a upgraded bear brakes cross drilled rotor and pads. That will allow some heat dissapation to escape easier. But be aware to purchase it with a zinc coating to prevent rusting on the rotors. They also sell a 13 inch kit which is 1/3 the price of brembo and are better in my opinion. Ciao

I personally believe, that if you upgrade to big wheel, you must upgrade your brakes as well. As previously mentioned, those big wheels are very heavy. Without the upgraded brakes, the braking distance is just so much longer. I can't count the times my Brembo brakes saved me from rear ending someone.

As for Baer brakes being better than Brembos, I don't know. I've never had Baer brakes. However, consider this, Brembos are OEM on most exotic cars like Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Lotus.

I have recently had the Baer Eradispeed + 1 rotor upgrade (14" crossdrilled + slotted with adapters = $1,200 front & rear) installed on mine's and to be quite honest, if any, it had minimal gains. Just slightly firmer when you step on the brakes. Prior to putting these rotors on, the stock brakes felt kinda mushy considering that I have 24's on. Although I would've loved to have the complete Brembo brake kit, I couldn't see myself spending $4,000 plus on brakes on a vehicle I drive 1 - 2 times weekly. Cosmetically, it gives the car a much more complete look  . I was wondering though, if Baer's 4 - 6 piston calipers were applicable with my Eradispeed rotors just in case I decided to upgrade the stock calipers / pads in the future...
