Hello, I'm researching wide-whitewall tires for my Eldorado and have some info for my size from Coker Tires in Chattanooga TN and Diamond Back Tires in Conway SC. Coker Tires comes from the antique tire-mold tradition and the whitewall is peeled out. Diamond Back grafts wide whitewalls onto any tire you want. My current XW4s still have a good bit of life left, but Michelin has phased out the X radial's whitewall version, so I'm using this time to do my wide-whitewall research.

Which of the two companies would you go to for a set of wide-whitewall tires? If you recommend one over the other, what are your reasons?

Well, Coker has been around the classic/antique scene forever it seems.
They are always present at all the big car shows I've been to, and I've never heard anything bad about them either, although I've never used their tires.
If I were looking for wide whites for an antique ride, I would probably buy from Coker.

Hopefully, others who have had personal experience will share their opinions, but I think Coker is a safe bet.

Thanks for your reply. My current tires probably still have about a year left, so that gives me time to investigate more before deciding. Hopefully, over time, more comments will give me a sense of how the whitewall opinion shakes out. Maybe I was born too late -- old-fashioned taste can be like bearing a cross...

What year Eldorado do you have?

I have replaced Broadway Classic tires on my 1977 Eldorado Biarritz from http://www.tirefactory.net/multimilebroadwayclassic.html

They shipped them to my garage, arrived fine without blemish or inherent tire issues. I like the fact that they were radial tires. They drive quiet and are comfortable at 30lbs per tire. I drive the car 1ce a month, sitting all winter in the garage, and they did not get flat spots on the tires. I would recommend them.
