Anyone relocate their traction control? Getting tired of opening/closing the glove box. Looks easy enough, just curious where you all are mounting it.

Several people have done it, but all (that I've seen) that also did center console & bucket conversions at the same time, so the button was mounted on their center console (as here, and the same with his trunk button):

If you stick with the bench as is, good question--I'd say probably around the gauge cluster somewhere, maybe towards the bottom or side of the steering column on the wood cluster cover panel. That's my first thought for a natural location, that isn't overly visible. Bad pic, but in here somewhere?

It's one thing I've always thought was dumb as far as location, but I never turn it off, so it hasn't bothered me a bit--except for the trunk popper, which again, I hit maybe twice a year. Then again, remembering the original clientale who bought these things, hiding the traction control button somewhere wasn't really of big concern...they'd never care.

Yea, that's what I'm thinking. Easy reach and out of sight. I'll post back with the result - I'd prefer a bottom location but may well have to remove whatever material's underneath the fascia to make way for the switch.

Thanks for the tips - 1 hour done. Had to drill away some of the dash pad material underneath the cluster fascia and modify the switch by paring it down but all told it works, is out of sight, and is convenient.

Thanks guys!!

Install guide:

1. remove the passenger side wood dash fascia
2. remove the radio fascia
3. remove the ash tray
4. remove the odometer cluster fascia
5. open the glove box and remove the traction control switch
6. unplug traction control wiring
7. pare down/crop traction control switch 6 cm to expose the wiring plugs
8. solder new wiring to traction control switch and test to OEM leads
9. create opening in odometer cluster fascia to fit traction control switch
10. remove material in the corresponding location underneath the odometer cluster fascia to open up a spot to fit the traction control switch
11. fit the odometer cluster fascia
12 route and splice new wiring with original wiring
13 fit traction control switch to odometer cluster fascia
14 fit radio surround fascia
15 fit ash tray
16 fit wood dash fascia

Thanks. Much, much better loc. I like to rip the tires off the line, sometimes. Can't do that with TC on!!!

Wow, that was quick!

Looks perfect, and even like where it should be--easy to reach and inconspicuous:thumbsup:

Did you also move your trunk popper button, or leave it in the glovebox?

That is awesome! If I do not do the floor shift conversion, I will use your method.

Thanks

The trunk release was put in the glovebox for security purposes. Theoretically, you can hand a valet your ignition key only and feel confident that the contents of your locked glovebox, and by extension your trunk won't be tampered with.

They should have engineered a TC control into the shifter. Should have been easy, considering that they dumped the gorgeous shifter from the preceding model for a clean slate design.

Ah, yes. I see the point now. But the TC button should still be elsewhere, and on the shifter would have been great...but far too different for this car, using mostly parts bin pieces when it came to the shifter an such.

As I said before, I think it was just put in the glovebox to be one less button (well, there's only a few as it is) on the dash for the typically elderly new owner's to even think about--let alone use.
