What happened to your 472? Did you "lose" it? :D
Those 472 engines (particularly the '68-'70 high-compression ones) are great! 96Fleetwood 03-29-08, 09:44 AM Excellent videos! Nice, love the 60-100 and how quiet it was!
I love the 76 FW 75... Look at that baby move! I can't wait to get my 68 running. caddeville89 03-30-08, 04:18 PM I did that once...went to court and got a $400 ticket....and I got "let off easy". Great vids. Like to see some of your car driving. I love driving in another car and watching my '90 Brougham drive. I~LUV~Caddys8792 03-30-08, 07:30 PM Dang!!! Not bad at all!! So that's what a 472 sounds and accelerates like...I've always wondered! Thanks for posting! Nice, love the 60-100 and how quiet it was!
I love the 76 FW 75...
Yeah, it is kind of quiet. If you turn up the volume you can hear the engine during the acceleration part (the "honking" noise)... that is because the air cleaner is turned upside down to make it more of an open/unsilenced air cleaner.
The '76 FW 75... it is a rare and unique car. Fun to own and drive around, but with the current fuel prices, it is now driven only about once every two weeks. I did that once...went to court and got a $400 ticket....and I got "let off easy". Great vids. Like to see some of your car driving. I love driving in another car and watching my '90 Brougham drive.
Yes, I do plan to add some driving vids... showing the car driving down the road. Especially the '76 limo... I want to drive it over some bumpy roads just to see how the car goes over the bumps. Look at that baby move! I can't wait to get my 68 running.
It would be fun to see a 40-70 or 60-100 mph video of your car (when it's running). I~LUV~Caddys8792 03-31-08, 09:58 AM I'd love to see a 0-60 video of one of these beasts.....if you can keep the tires from spinning in first gear. :) ;) Cadillacboy 03-31-08, 10:00 AM Thanks for the cool videos and not putting some daft musics in background :highfive: I'd love to see a 0-60 video of one of these beasts.....if you can keep the tires from spinning in first gear. :) ;)
I plan to do one of those. Or two... one with wheelspin and one without (easing off the line). Thanks for the cool videos and not putting some daft musics in background :highfive:
Yeah, that really irrititates me. I want to hear the engine!
Especially with a muscle car... I don't want to hear music blaring from the video, I want to hear the engine and the tires screaming when burning rubber! I added this video today. A short clip of my '76 limo driving over a few dips in the road. It went over the dips in true limousine fashion (meaning smoothly).

The limo? I guess I can do that, too. I have taken it up to 95 mph before.
It won't be anywhere near as fast as the '69 Fleetwood, though. I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-02-08, 06:47 PM I know, it'd still be interesting though! :) I know, it'd still be interesting though! :)
Okay, I will add that to my video list.
Until then, here is a photo of it for you to enjoy...

very nice and interesting, too. Didnīt knew that a 69 is such a strong runner.
472 cubic inches must be around 7,5 Liters, i guess. about 300 HP ? Car weighs 2,5 tons? 7.7L.... I think they were in the low 300's for HP, and 525ish lb/ft torque.... What a beast! What do your neighbors think?
It was funny the first few days after I brought it home. I parked it in front of the house on the stree just to see the neighbor's reactions.
Most people who drove by would slow down and stare at it for about 10 seconds and some would stop and do the same thing!
Can't blame them. After all, they see a million cookie-cutter BMWs, Mercedes, Hondas, etc, but how many '76 limos do you they see everyday? 7.7L.... I think they were in the low 300's for HP, and 525ish lb/ft torque....
Right, 7.7 L.
Rated at 375 (gross) hp @ 4400 rpm and 525 lbs/ft (gross) torque @ 3000 rpm. But mine has dual exhaust, so it's probably making more like 390 (gross) hp. And mine has a shift kit.
Mine weighs 5,060 lbs. Here is a 0-60 mph video I did today. I wanted to do one with no wheelspin, but it happened anyway. It's hard to keep 525 lbs/ft of torque from not spinning the wheels!

Yes, thank you. :) It looks like it comes out to about eight and a half seconds. :giggles like a schoolgirl:

Yeah, I would say around 8.5 seconds. The wheelspin cost a few tenths.
I think next I will do a full throttle from a standing start, wihout trying to contorl wheelspin. That should sound good on video. :D
That will probably be next week because I drive this car only once or twice a week. I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-05-08, 01:54 PM I remember reading a comparison article between the '71 Eldorado and '71 Mark III Continental, and they had said that the cars were rather sluggish off the line, but at speed, the acceleration "was akin to a swift kick from a mule". Would you say that's how your '69 feels? No, my '69 is certainly not sluggish off the line. It can easily lose traction and burn rubber for dozens of feet. It can out jump many other cars off the line.
A stock '69 DeVille can reach 30 mph from a standing start in 3.5 seconds, which is a good number for a 5,000 lb car with 2.94:1 gears.
There is no doubt, however, that my car and a '71 Eldo and Mark III have better accelertion once rolling. For instance, their passing times, like 40-60 and 50-70 mph, are more impressive than their 0-60 mph times. I would love to get in and tune a 472 or 500.... Especially one with some good compression.... I would bet you can do even better yet with acceleration. It doesn't even sound like it is working hard!
