I recently picked up some front seats for my 89 Brougham from Missouri. I saw a picture of the car in question on a site called "CoPartFinder.com". They had a huge listing of cars in junkyards all over the country, and pictures of interiors and exteriors to boot.

I've always wanted to get new seats for my car. Reupholstering would have been expensive, and likely not up to Cadillac standards, but finding seats for my car in good shape, and in the right color and style seemed impossible, but lady luck smiled upon me and I picked up a set of front seats for a song, 150 each. Shipping to MA from MO was only 100 bucks via DHL. 400 smackers all together, and considering I would have gotten a half-assed uphostering job for probably double that, I think I made out like a bandit. The seats are like NEW! Here's some comparison pictures.


Before: The seats are ripped, worn, discolored, and overall beat. The car used to belong to a pair of brothers who were mechanics. You can tell they sure weren't easy on these poor seats. The worst damage out of the frame on the far right of the passenger seat. I was trying to hide it when I took this picture.

The only difference is that my old passenger seat had a power recline switch for just the back. This new one has the standard six-way power seat, but to recline it there is a regular lever. I may switch it over some day, but seeing as how I'm never in the passenger seat, I don't really care.

I'm actually interested to know, how many other Brougham owners have a power recliner on their passenger seat vs. the lever? I wonder if it was a rare option...

Wow! what a major difference.I hope you realize how lucky you are to find the right color and leather pattern for a Caddy of that vintage.
You`re right about paying much more for reupholstering.I recently had my drivers seat reupholstered for a bit over $500.

I really like your door light lenses, AFAIK they were mainly in the cars before around 83, after that there was no wreath and crest on the lens.. I may be off with the years,

Looks good man. I have the exact interior color in my 89 Brougham and I take care of my seats as best as I can because that color is very hard to find for some reason. Good score!

What a difference. I was just at hollands junkyard today here in Billerica, and they have a white 91 with that carmine red leather interior. Delegance, im not sure what shape the seats were in though.

Haha, yeah I was thinking that! They're actually a little brighter than some other parts of the interior. I'm in no hurry to wear them, but they sure do stand out. Actually, the cushions are so much less worn than my old ones that I can feel I'm actually sitting up higher than I used to, even though the seat is in the same position.

Every now and then I would have second thoughts about my red interior, especially with the old seats in their damaged shape, i thought it looked a little cheesy, but now that I have these new beauties in there, it takes the car back to it's prime. That red color has such an old-school elegance, sort of a 50's feel to it. Nobody uses red on their interiors anymore, especially not luxury cars. They're all black, tan, or gray nowadays!

The red leather like that definitely makes the car feel older than it is...in a good way!

Heh, you noticed those lenses, huh? When I was a kid, my grandpa had an 83 Fleetwood, and I ALWAYS remembered looking at those lenses. When I got my 89, I was a little upset that they had ditched the Cadillac emblems for a regular square pattern. A few months back, someone put those old style lenses on Ebay for a couple of bucks so I jumped on them. They may not be correct for the year of the car, but who cares? They're awesome!

Your seats are AMAZING, as was the deal you got! But you have got to do something with that steering wheel!

Sharp eye! That it is! It was lying around in my attic, my dad used to be a CB radio freak. It seemed a shame to waste it. I also have a gold-plated K40 antenna. Supposedly it originally retailed for near 160 bucks back in the 80's, when it was made to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. It had been sitting in the back of my local radio shop for nearly 20 years, so i picked it up for 40 bucks.

My friends always complained they couldn't get a hold of me if they saw me out driving around because I didn't have a cell phone. Now I complain that I can't get a hold of them because they don't have a CB Radio.

haha So true. Cell phones kinda take the fun out of road trips and stuff, not to mention they've nearly caused CBs to become extinct.

My old '89 FWB has the power recline passenger seat..... Never understood why it was only passenger side, and in fact, there was no recline (manual or power) for the driver seat... that was something that really bugged me.

Whoah! Awesome seats! Those look pretty darn slick! Nothing looks as nice as mint d'Elegance seats. I love the gray coloring, it really brings out the shine. I'd say yours and mine are about the same quality, judging from your pictures.

And those cloth seats look so comfy! I'd have trouble not falling asleep in them! I love the back seat, it looks like they just shoved a big ol' sofa in there.

I could never decide whether I liked cloth or leather. My first caddy was an 86 deville with cloth, and my Brougham has leather, I really can't pick, they both have their merits.

It's been over a week since i changed those seats out, and here's my dillema...I don't know what to do with the old ones! They're in my shed right now, but I can't bring myself to chuck them out. Maybe i could weld some legs for them and turn them into lawn furniture.

When I replaced the front bench in my Delta 88 wagon, I put the old seats in the living room. It really adds character to your home! ...and the cats loved em...
