Ive got a slight lifter tick on driver side of my LT1. Not noticeable with hood closed but it still bugs me. Anything I can do to alleveiate this? If I decide to take it in is it an expensive fix? Will they just replace lifter? Any info appreciated.

Are you sure it is not a manifold leak? That would sound like a lifter noise and be more likely.. it could be a broken manifold bolt.
I will have to check that out.
GM did have issues with noisy rockers on the LT1's. Mine USED to do it, I did nothing and it is gone. The home plate tends to cover it up, which is one of its purposes, noise control of the engine and valvetrain.
GM recommended adding some EOS (Engine Oil Supplement) http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/500-472-425-368/106765-gm-engine-oil-supplement-vs-eos.html.... and that would help.
I feel that thicker oil helps too, like 10W30 or a 10W40.
The real fix? Go readjust the rocker arms.... Can be a tad messy, but not hard, just need some new valve cover gaskets and a 5/8" socket and some towels.
Yeah, I checked for broken exhaust manifold bolts and they all appear to be there and fastened. Its really minor and since I removed home plate it might be the reason I notice it. If electrical fans are on you have to put your ear right up to valve cover to notice. Might try some GM additive just for the heck of it. Anyone know an equivalent product to GM's own additive. I understand its the zinc it contains that makes it effective.

I'd check your oil first. Low oil = noisy lifters/tappets. And or/if your oil's good then try adding some Mystery Oil. It's not going to rebuild your engine by any means but it will sometimes quiet noisy lifters and tappets. Has for me at least.

Actually have a quart of that sitting in garage. Car is half quart low but its been 6k since oil change. Wouldnt think that would affect it much. Am changing oil on the morrow. Maybe Ill top off with Marvel, run around a little and then drain and replace. Only 68k on car so wear shouldnt be problem yet. You can run a full quart of Marvel on top of 4 quarts of oil and just leave it in as well cant you?
