On the 2000 Escalade is the remote suppose to open the rear gate door? The key opens it but the remote does not?

Can anyone confirm?

I bet someone changed the remote on you...is there a button that has an "X2" on it...press that twice...viola'...I have the "barn doors" and this is how it works...should be the same for you...you should also have a dash mounted button for the hatch (barn door guys do not)...

I just have lock/unlock and the trunk button and alarm button. No X2

the trunk button is not opening the gate???...try the trunk button twice (if it is like our barn door models)...mine came with one remote and I replaced it with a GM remote that came with the "trunk" logo instead of the X2 logo...

stopped for a train yesterday and grabbed the owner's manual...this should be the fix for your hatch model...good luck.
