View Full Version : 150 shot on stock 2008 DTS?? NORCAL SS 03-26-08, 10:29 PM Hey guys. im going to a national trailblazer ss meet in kansas (tbssnationals.com) and am renting a caddy dts. There are a few guys there that are lending me a nitrous kit. nitrous express wet and dry set up i just need soem feedback. I was going to go for broke and rig up a 100-150 shot wet kit on and on our track day see how she runs.
On our last meet i put a 125 shot on a srx (the station wagon one) and ran 13.0s-13.20 all day long and just when done take the fuel line out put the shrader valve stem back in plug the little hole on the bottom of the intake tube and here goes back your rent a car.
ANyone give me some feedback here? Highline Cady 03-27-08, 12:04 AM I guess you take out the additional insurance, if not you should. How the hell are you going to explain that if something goes boom? Well hell have fun, yet another reason I'll never buy a rental car, ever. NORCAL SS 03-27-08, 12:16 AM My cousin rented a shelby from hertz a year ago and we went to a test and tune set up at the track. did a 175 shot and ran low 12 insane trap speed. and then tried 200 shot pill and went one up on fuel to just saver her a little right after 330 mark he heard knocking. Drove it back to my aunts house (10 miles from track) took all the stuff off called hertz told them making noise. extra insurance was 10.99 they brought him another shelby out
im trying to see if anyone used a wet or dry kit on a dts cant find anything. Highline Cady 03-27-08, 12:48 AM My biggest question is how are you going to retard the timing? That is one of the hangups, as I understand it. As for a kit. They are not made, tailored for fwd lacs. Most that have blown NOS into a N* don't shoot it that much more like 50-75 shot and it is usually a LS1 system modified. That much might lift a head on a stock N*. If you are going to run that much NOS I'd definetly add fuel. NORCAL SS 03-27-08, 01:21 AM My biggest question is how are you going to retard the timing? throw some race gas in that should help out with timing. 5 gallons of 116 leaded works wonders (not worried about the cats its a rent a car) If it has a shrader valve on teh fuel line any efi kit will work.
ill start with 75 shot then 125 then see how she does. I got the 11.99 extra insurance per day so if it goes faaaq it.
Ill go prob 2 up on the fuel jettings also once we pass 100 hp level. Highline Cady 03-27-08, 01:30 AM Sounds like fun. Take vid's I'd love to see it. Even if you don't want to put them up in the forum, pm them to me. Looking to add 100 shot on my 03, maybe by the end of April, maybe. Well once again sounds like fun, enjoy. There are a couple of guys on the forum that run NOS setups, maybe they'll chime in yet. Continue to check back I know there are members on the forum that have N* nitrous experience. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/northstar-performance-technical-discussion/85147-01-eldo-100shot-nitrous-track-results.html I have never babied a rental car, but I think what you have done and plan to do is just plain wrong. For example, running leaded gas in a brand new car will destroy not just the cats, but the O2 sensors and a bunch of other things that will have to be replaced at the expense of the rental car company or GM. That means we all have to pay for your "fun"! Someday, someone will own that car, and when the engine or transaxle fails early, due to your excessive abuse, we will all blame it on crappy American car company build quality.
I think it would be better if you buy your own 2008 DTS and abuse it? At least then you would be responsible for your own actions. AlBundy 03-27-08, 04:05 PM http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/northstar-performance-technical-discussion/86683-nitrous-f-findings-questions.html

Those people live in a somewhat different world from normal humans. Judging from its English and grammar its on something more than race gas.
Wonder if someone could get in touch with the track and inquire about the legality of running rented cars ???? Specifically, Cadillacs. stngh8r 03-27-08, 08:03 PM I do not agree with you morally doing this and I believe you will likely not find many on this forum that think your idea is that grand. If however you decide to follow through with your plans, please.....
-Bring the video camera.
-Run colder plugs that are not platinum/iridium (which factory are BTW).
-Run unleaded high octane gas.
-Maybe consider a resistor in the IAT to decrease timing (see resistor thread).
-Consider not going past 100 shot.
I would run a dry through the MAF if your doing a small shot (50 or less), Wet would probably be the best bet for 75 or more. Thats just my best guess, no personal experience with nitrous on N*s.
Thats the only things I can think of. Let us know what happens.

I know not many are thrilled about this but as far as track is concerned driver license is only thing needed. Ill prob jug a 100 shot see how she runs. I just found a hook up on vp racing 110 unleaded so ill be running there so dont mess up the cats.
Albundy thanks for the link.
Someone has allready donated a set of wheels/ tires with a mickey thompson et streets (26x11.5x16) so ill be launchin on the 100 shot. NORCAL SS 03-28-08, 02:15 AM where my post go? CadillacSTS2003 03-28-08, 07:44 PM mods have it in limbo
