: What bulbs for interior and reverse lights to make them look like the DTS lights?

I got a DTS as a rental a few weeks ago and all the lights that are white are like the same color as HID headlights. Can these bulbs be used in the Escalade?

I thought of the same thing for the interior lights after a DTS rental. The DTS interior lighting is very cool.

Tried to pull a bulb from a DTS, but couldn't . It's like they're soldered in or something - which leads me to think more trouble than it's worth .

Geek, does the Putco 3rd light replacement kit light the whole lens unlike the stock setup?

TSS

Looks like Putco would certainly be a good option.

But, again, I do not think you can actually pull bulbs froma DTS or buy DTS bulbs and make them work easily. Ok, I admit it, when I had the Lade and a DTS loaner at the same time in my garage, I thought about making an interior light swap. I was not able to remove the LEDs from the DTS for a direct replacement. My rationalization was that Caddy ripped me off by not supplying LEDs from the start with the Lade and that nobody using a bare bones base loaner would care. Not exactly a proud moment in hind sight, but it does cut to the chase for your answer I guess....

I'll find out, but I remember talking to a guy from Putco, and he said they are much cheaper then original GM clear ones

The interior LED lights on the DTS are cool. I don't know if the new CTS has LED interior lighting. I just don't understand why GM wouldn't put LED interior lighting and LED back-up lights on the Escalade which costs more than the CTS and DTS.

Often times GM does things nobody can quite understand. Let's hope the next generation Escalade (2012) or even 2009 or 2010 Escalade has full LED lighting, interior and exterior.

The only thing I want to know is where can I get the LED bulbs for the Escalade's back-up lights that match the DTS and CTS' LED back-up lights?

I have had a stainless PUTCO grill and a stainless PUTCO brushguard on past vehicle. It is reasonably priced and top quality stuff IMO. They claimed neither would ever rust, and they didn't - even after several salty Michigan winters. More than I can say for my factory chromes! :bigroll:

GM always holds out. That way every year they can offer minor upgrades. I remember my 2000 Grand AM came with rear drum brakes, and the next year they got 4 disc brakes. Then my 2003 Z71 4x4 had a rear open differential, and the next year they came with rear locking differentials. ****ing GM needs to come out with a complete package. The cost of getting a vehicle with all the upgrades means waiting until the model nears the end of its run. But who wants to wait. I didn't want to wait until 2010 to buy my Escalade. At that point I'd rather get next generation 2012. Then the 2012 is gonna have a few things stripped down so GM can wave minor upgrades in your face and make you want to trade up sooner than expected. I love America and GM but this is some bullshit!

Does putco offer door led lights? It looks kinda odd if you have led dome lights & reg bulbs in the door.

If you know number of your door light, then you can check conversion chart from Putco or some other companys who sells LED lights

Ok, number for backup light is 7441. but nobody has LED version of those. I know some other numbers are interchangeble. so I ordered several different LED sets for Cadillacs. should have them anyday to try them out.
PS: backup lights on CTS and DTS are dual LED's (on each side). and they are part of the whole LED assembly

2. I ordered almost $200 worth of LED's to find out what would be the best solution for interior

That is simply not true. I have LED reverse lights installed on my truck right this second and have had them in there for 6 months.

Fist off, let me just say i consider myself an 'Amateur expert' on automotive lighting. I've converted 4 cars to LED, including my Escalade.

All the LED bulbs the escalade requires are available from this website:

www.superbrightleds.com

What you need is the following:

2 x reverse lights (7440) http://superbrightleds.com/specs/744x-xHP3.htm
8 x 194/168 pill bulbs (headlights, license plate, under sideview mirrors, in the two front doors) http://superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html
6 x FESTOON bulbs (42 millimeters) http://superbrightleds.com/festoon.html

MAKE SURE YOU BUY WHITE BULBS - DO NOT BUY BLUE. THE WHITE BULBS LOOK BLUE.

If you need any help, PM or email me, or post in this thread.

Thanks,
Marco

Here's what i'm going to do - i'll give you the amount of bulbs and the direct link to the specs and a part number so you can cross reference when you order. Remember to get WHITE!

2 of these -----------> http://superbrightleds.com/specs/744x-xHP3.htm (Part number: 7440-xHP3)
8 of these -----------> http://superbrightleds.com/specs/bulb_specs.htm (Part number: WLED-WHP)
6 of these -----------> http://superbrightleds.com/festoon.html (Part number: 42mm 4210-xWHP6)

Now for your other questions:

Headlight question: The top pill bulb in the headlight can be converted to LED. It is 194/168. If you don't want to change that bulb then order 6, not 8 194/168.

Festoon question: A 'festoon' is the bulb that is in a glass tube, and usually is used with map lights and dome lights.

Here is a breakdown of the bulbs:

7440 - Reverse lights (2)
194/168 - Head lights (2) Front doors panels (2) Under sideview mirrors (2) Rear License plate lights (2)
Festoon - Rear dome (2) Middle Dome (2) Front Map (2)

I hope i was clear in what you need. Good luck and PM me if you have any more questions.

Marco, are the LED backup lights much brighter compared to stock?

roccos_van
04-13-08, 12:49 PM
Carl,

The reverse lights are slightly brighter than stock. I noticed on superbright leds dot com that there is an even brighter 7440 than the ones I bought but am not sure it has the proper light spread. You will notice on the link for the 7440 page above that there are 3 styles, I got the middle style. The style on the right is brighter.

I used to get 50 watters but of course they had to change to a strange bulb for the backup lights, it's not bad when there is snow on the ground, but when the snow is gone and with the tinted side windows look black even with the back up lights on.
