Hey guys, I just bought an 02 Deville with 37,000 on the clock. The previous owner ran regular oil. I am considering running Mobil 1 synthetic. What your views on this, should I or shouldn't I? Thanx for the help. :alchi:

FWIW, I run Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 synthetic and WIX 51522 filters, drive extremely hard and fast when I feel like it (rural country roads) and have no problems whatsoever: oil consumption is 3,000 - 4,000 miles/quart and gas mileage (STS, 3.71:1 final drive) is 24 mpg, highway, 13 - 18 suburban, no leaks, anywhere.
I never fill above halfway up the dipstick hashmark because my experience, and that of some in these forums, has been that the Northstar will quickly burn off a half-quart if you fill all the way to the top of the mark.
Use whatever you want. They all do the same job and do it well. Do a search for oil, then sit back and be prepared to do a LOT of reading.
