Hey guys!

Hope someone can help me with this. I'm looking for a Sensor Diagnostic Module (SDM) for the Airbag system of my Deville. I have a 2002 Deville and had it serviced recently. The shop was going to charge me $462.96 for this part plus labor. Right now the airbags won't deploy if I get into an accident, so I need to replace it soon.

Thanks for Any responses on this issue.

Bubble, you may be better off to take the price that is offered by the shop even if the price sticks in your craw. An SDM replacement requires that the console be lifted off and the new one put in the slit in the carpet underneath it. Once replaced, the SDM still has to be reprogrammed with the options and RPO of your vehicle. If you went to a wrecking yard, you would have to get one that was not in an accident and even then, the Airbag light would be lit as the SDM still has the programming from the previous vehicle, it would still have to be reprogrammed, Your car has two different models, RPO D07 or RPO D09, you would need to consult with your RPO chart on the spare tire carrier lid. I do not know the difference between the two. The shop who replaces it will do all this for you and you will have a warranty. Good luck with it

The difference in the RPOs might be the rear side bags versus not.

If the OP is a little handy he can make out okay on the repair. Get the SDM from your favorite online GM parts retailer and pop it in. Then take it to your local GM dealer and have him register the module with the BCM. They'll probably bang you for an hour's labor to do it (even though it would take 5 minutes including a 4-minute coffee break).
