It is with bittersweet feelings that I post this thread. I’ve documented on here my problems with the steering column squealing/squeaking noises on my 2006 STS. After seven (7) repair attempts I was forced to Lemon Law the car and take it to arbitration…..(TIP: GM calls you right before the hearing to make a low-ball offer. DON’T take it and go to the hearing instead. Just make sure you have all your documentation, i.e. service records, in order)

I have just received the decision from the arbitrator and I’m very happy with the result. That’s the sweet part….

The bitter part is that I probably won’t be looking at this forum on a daily basis for news and advice like I used to. I consider this forum to be a great resource and I’d like to thank all of the other car fanatics (like me  ) who make this forum what it is…..THANKS and good luck….

For the record, what was the issue(s) that caused your car to be lemon-lawed?

Bro i just started noticing this issue as well, but i havn't taken my car to the dealer yet....the thing is i have 24,000 miles and for you to apply for lemon law you have under 20,00 miles. how many miles did you have on your car?

My problem started at about 18k miles when the car was about 15 months old....I'm in FL and here it's not about the miles but the time.....here you need to present the claim within 2 yrs of purchasing the car....just finished the process now and the car has 27k, the car will be 2 yrs old next month....but I took it in 7 times over an 8 mo period(FL says you can start the process after 3 times) b/c I really like the car and was hoping it was something that could be fixed.....

my understanding is that the lemon laws vary state to state....
