My 2005 STS needs new tires(29000 miles),,the fronts are pretty well worn thanks to it being out of alignment when I bought it new.(then when you bring it into the dealer after the tire is worn they say you must have hit a pot hole)The rears are about half gone..Would it be wise to just replace the fronts? Also I am not real happy with the Michlen Pilots I thought there was a lot of road noise..Would like to hear what some users of other tires have to say..

Do you have a v-6 or v-8? Do you have same size tires or staggered? Living in Minnesota do you use snow tires? What is rim size 17 or 18?
I'm in the same boat this summer, I've got the v8 with staggered tires but I'm probably going to go with the same size (rear size) at all 4 corners next time. Been look at Kumho excsta's I believe but haven't researched a whole lot yet.... In your case, if staggard and you want to keep it that way, its really up to you whether you replace 2 or 4... I think I'd base it on the weather in your area more so, lots of rain etc. would probably point me towards 4...

I would just replace the fronts. Then get some rims and snow tires this fall. In the spring you may then need to replace the rears, but at least you will have gotten another summer out of them. I went through 1 Minnesota winter on the stock tires...and that was enough.
