Anyone have a 3rd row sunroof ?

While washing the car (Standing on the tire) I realized there is glass over the third row, from the inside it is a headliner. I have the astroroof option over the first and second rows.

Was there optional 3rd row roof ?
Does it open or just fixed ?

Looks like you could cut the headliner out to have a glass roof over the 3rd row unless that is where the sunshade slides into ?

There was an ultrview PLUS option that has the third row FIXED roof with sunshade along with the standard ultraview. Since it did not open, I went with the regular ultraview. I did notice that there was glass there anyway. I used a magnet to confirm.

Cutting into the headliner seemed like too much work for a third row small fixed glass roof to me. I would have to believe it is possible though without affecting the main retractable sunshade.

There was an option for the non-opening 3rd row sunroof, every vehicle with the ultraroof has the 3rd row glass in place, but not the right headliner.
In looking on the current Cadillac site, it no longer seems to be an option on the 08's.

I don't think I would do it either but was curious why it was glass.

Thanks for the answer and possiblities.

Yeah, all three panels on the roof are glass, surrounded by small panels of black plastic; no metal on the roof at all except the thin painted strips under the luggage racks. And there is about 100 feet of rubber seals just waiting to rot in the sun. Better pull out the dielectric grease if you park in the sun all day.
I guess the glass for the rear moonroof was already tooled, so they just didn't bother to tool up a plastic or metal piece for the non-moonroof cars. I had a rattle back in th rear of the ultraview (no 3rd row moonroof) and I was dreaming maybe the middle glass piece just popped out for servicing the ultraview workings. But looking up under there with the roof open you can see a plastic panel underneath the glass. Ah, well, I guess they remove the entire headliner to get to that stuff.

Strange. I have a 2008 with third row seat and the UltraView Plus roof, which has the 3rd row glass with sliding sunshade.

I have a 2005 V8 Ultraview plus with third row seat and the UltraView roof, which has the 3rd row glass with sliding sunshade . The small back sunroof is fixed (only on Audi Q7 will open "back side up" style) . On SRX only the sunshade will slide,.... on the back sunroof.

If they do have to remove the headliner to repair.

That is a great time to have the other headliner installed. Hopefully under warranty.

You're not going to get a new headliner and retractable shade for the 3rd row roof just because you want it. It's not something your SRX was built with, and if there's a problem, that will be fixed and it returned to the way it is.

Unless of course you start ordering and paying for the parts yourself, not going to happen.

As said above, they just made all of the roof sections glass on Ultraview models but without the 3rd seat or the Plus option, just a solid headliner portion back there to cover it--without the seat, no one would look or see there, and it's less costly just to have a solid headliner and no extra shades, etc.
