View Full Version : GM Card combined Supplier Pricing jtallequipment 03-24-08, 04:44 PM I just got back from ordering a new CTS. The dealer indicated that I should
check with GMcard regarding combining points with suppier pricing. Lo and behold I was told by the rep that GMcard points are not available to be combined. I have over 3600 points and was pretty outraged that I would be limited to 1000 on redemption for the CTS, but this really ticks me off. I have purchased 2 new Corvettes and 3 new Tahoes from General Motors yet every time I go to use my GMcard points their is another restriction. I do not understand the logic of the company not to reward a customer who both purchases their product and uses their card. Does anyone know if I am getting the correct information from GMcard as I was under the impression supplier price and points were combinable. I don't have a direct answer....but I wasn't able to combine Supplier Pricing with the $1000 Conquest Cash offer (well, not officially, but the dealer met me half way, knocked another $500 off), but this might align with GM not combining other offers with Supplier.... muschany 03-24-08, 06:20 PM Go to www.gmsupplierdiscount.com > FAQs > "What's the difference between GM Extended Family & GM Flexible Earnings card?" It states that earnings on the GM Extended Family card can be combined with the Supplier Discount, but earnings on the GM Flexible Earnings card cannot be combined with the discount. I double checked this by calling my GM Flexible Earnings card and was told the same thing. caddycruiser 03-24-08, 06:30 PM Correct, you cannot combine Supplier pricing with GM card (at least the old/original/regular one) earnings or sometimes various bonuses.
BUT, as Supplier pricing is really nothing special in reality, usually a % over invoice, you should have no trouble just getting that same or better price in the first place from the dealer...and then subtract away card earnings, bonuses, etc.
Something we ran into years ago when buying our Suburban, and after finding out, no biggie, the dealer just discounted (with no need for Supplier, etc.) the truck to a price a few bucks below it in the first place and took the earnings, etc. off.
You're also limited to that $1000, but it's still a nice chunk. Just get a dealer price near, at, or below Supplier without it, and subtract the earnings. ...Just get a dealer price near, at, or below Supplier without it, and subtract the earnings.
Yes, that's exactly what I did even though I am not affiliated with a GM Employee or Supplier. Anyone paying more than GM Supplier Price (before subtracting $1000 GM Card earnings, if applicable) is wasting money! Correct, you cannot combine Supplier pricing with GM card (at least the old/original/regular one) earnings or sometimes various bonuses.

Its usually not hard to negotiate the price down below Supplier on most GM products, but many people (myself included) are finding that we NEED the supplier discount in order to get any type of deal on the CTS because of how "in demand" the car is now. I even had a dealer that wouldn't accept Supplier pricing. muschany 03-24-08, 08:37 PM My dealer gave me a price to order my car which he said was $300 over invoice. I don't know about that, but it was $750 less than the supplier price at that time. I'm not much of a haggler, so I said ok before he changed his mind. He said the car should be here within 4-6 weeks of ordering. I expect all to go well. This was for a minimally equiped CTS with a MSRP of $37,640. JohnnySpagz 03-24-08, 09:04 PM When I bought my car, the dealer told me I could not combine the GM points with the Supplier discount. He even called the 800 number for the GM Card when you redeem the points and I heard the guy say they couldnt be combined. So, what the dealer did was not use Supplier Discount, charge me a little more - then use the GM points. So, in the end, I probably got an additional 600 off from the Supplier Price, plus conquest. It worked out in favor for both of us. Hope this helps. New to the site and wanted to chime in on this topic. I'm new to the Cadillac market. Never owned one (actually have never owned a GM vehicle) and wasn't even considering until I came across one on a GM lot (gotta have one now).
Looked at the MSRP ($46,925) and then noticed an additional "market adjustment price" of $3K making the total cost $49,925.... What the hell!!!
Dealer also mentioned that they "will not honor supplier pricing at this time" given the "demand" for these. So not only would I have to pay MSRP (at least at this particular dealership) I would have to pay the additional "market adjustment price" if I want to buy from them (obviously I will wait or look elsewhere).
I have read a few different threads on this forum regarding this topic where others are paying at or just above invoice or are getting GMsupplier or GMfamily discount at a minimum and I have to question how? (Slick negotiating skills?)
I question if geographic location has anything to do with this (I live in the Pacific Northwest). Southern 03-26-08, 01:40 AM Prices within regions tend to have a sameness because supply seems to have a sameness.
In Michigan, the things are coming out their ears (Those folks eat their own cooking so there are a lot of allocations) and you can buy one for Invoice or close.
Down here in SW Florida, they are going for MSRP and maybe a 1K courtesy discount now.
Still none in stock really.
Val Ward has about 15 but sell 5-10 per week.
I got supplier there.
I could have negotiated untill I was blue in the face back in Nov and couldn't have gotten anywhere near supplier pricing.
These things were HOT and Val had a reasonable but not spectacular number of allocations.
But it is just not in his nature to add the "market Adjustment Price".
I don't like to knock dealers but that kind of reminds me of buying cars from the crooks out on the highway.
I'll stick with my dealer who has been here since 1970 and is now being run by Val Ward III.
He charges a fair price, stands behind his product, and gives you a pleasant experience whether it be sales or service.
But also dealers vary as to whether they will accept Supplier pricing.
When they do accept supplier pricing it is not as if that is all they get.
They get at least a part of that refunded to them by GM.
I guess what hurts is they cant tack on the stealership fees.
And they don't like that so they don't accept supplier pricing.
Try another dealer.
It would be worth it to drive a couple of hundred miles if you have to.
And don't worry about service.
You can get it serviced at any Caddy dealer, not necessarily where you bought it.
And if you still can't find a good deal locally, try one of the dealers here on the forum and have the thing shipped to you.......or fly/drive to them. jtallequipment 03-27-08, 05:25 PM Thanks for all the input. I went back to the dealer and they agreed to give me their invoice price (includes advertising adjustment) which actually raised the price $250.00 but will allow me to use my $1,000.00 in gmcard points. I still think GM has a screwed up way of rewarding their customers, but I am satisfied with the deal I made with the dealer. PS I applied for a Chasae Freedom card which offers 3% cash back and will start using that in the future. Jim ngiardina 03-27-08, 06:11 PM I don't know if it matters, but my cars MSRP was $46,800 and the invoice was $43200. I got it fo $43500. Fully loaded everything except AWD and Auto. | |
