View Full Version : Where to rent an '08 CTS? 93DevilleUSMC 03-23-08, 12:12 PM Hello,
I have a body repair which I'm planning to have done on my Deville this Wednesday, and I'm wanting to rent a 2008 CTS or STS while the car's in the shop. My local Avis doesn't have either one of them, nor does Enterprise. Does anyone know where I should look? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you. RustedElvis 03-23-08, 12:30 PM I think you might be SOL. Avis probably would have been your best bet. Evidently Hertz has some in their premium collection. I found this post from a renter.

My brother could have rented one but opted for the '08 DTS with 4 miles they had. 93DevilleUSMC 03-23-08, 01:58 PM They have them here at O'hare airport with Avis... What were the rates for his? I'm asking so I can get an idea what I would be paying. 96Fleetwood 03-23-08, 02:04 PM With his government discount he got the DTS for the weekend (Friday 7pm till Sunday 7pm) for $207 dollars. fadywwf316 03-23-08, 05:21 PM Enterprise also has them...the person getting an Enterprise loaner in front of me when I was dropping off my 08 CTS for service got the last 08 CTS loaner car...I ended up with an Impala :( I see quite a few CTS's at the Ft. Myers airport when I fly in frequently for business at the Avis section....strange they don't have them at your location.
My dealer rented me a CTS from Enterprise while my car was having work done here in Cleveland... Southern 03-23-08, 08:30 PM We just rented a DTS from Avis, Monday evening to Friday evening at Las Vegas for $280. I don't think CTS was avail tho I didn't ask as we had 4 adults and their luggage.
Yes, Avis in Ft Myers has CTS'.
So does Enterprise.
You can also try Budget.
But it has been my experience that most of these guys will not GUARANTEE a particular car.
And there is nothing you can do about it if you reserve a CTS and they give you an impala. chewwtoy 03-23-08, 08:54 PM Enterprise had one at LAX. 93DevilleUSMC 03-23-08, 09:39 PM So if i go to a local Enterprise, they can at least tell me about a location that has a CTS? lordbaby 03-24-08, 04:09 AM I forgot to close my window at one of the parking lots of the roof one night in LAX.. the cop car passed by, saw it, and wait there till i return.. haha
good job! 93DevilleUSMC 03-24-08, 04:38 AM I forgot to close my window at one of the parking lots of the roof one night in LAX.. the cop car passed by, saw it, and wait there till i return.. haha

Dude...you need to share whatever it is you're smoking with the rest of us! 93DevilleUSMC 03-24-08, 08:44 PM Well, I've found a dealer that will allow me to rent a current-generation CTS from them. The dealer is Hennessy Cadillac in Duluth, GA, and the price is $90 dollars per day.
Thanks for the assistance. Southern 03-24-08, 10:17 PM Well, that's cool. Hope the repair on the Deville comes out OK. You will like the CTS if you are interested in sporty. If not, the STS fits nicely between the CTS and the Deville. 93DevilleUSMC 03-25-08, 01:59 AM Well, that's cool. Hope the repair on the Deville comes out OK. It's just getting a mirror pressed back into the door frame, so it shouldn't be anything big. Thanks for the good wishes!
I've never driven a sport sedan, so this will be a unique experience for me. How does it handle? How's the smoothness of the ride? This will be a base V-6 version: does anyone have any experience with that engine in the current CTS? Southern 03-25-08, 11:49 AM The "smoothness" of the ride depends on the suspension chosen.
FE1- is just a firm but traditional ride. These are 17" wheels/tires with the same diameter as the 18" wheels/tires on the FE2 and FE3, so the sidewalls are higher. This gives an additional softness and allows just a bit more float and tilt while turning. Many people moving up from older caddys prefer this level of suspension. THis gives you a Sport sedan biased toward luxury.
FE3- is like a sports car. VERY Firm. NOT uncomfortable on smooth roads, But very little "compliance" on bad roads. Comes with 18" summer tires that must NOT be used in cold weather/snow. This gives you a sport sedan biased toward track use.
FE2- between the two above. Tighter and flatter than FE1, not as all out track like as FE3. Comes with 18" all season tires. Obviously a compromise.
The base V6 is fine.
The DI is "crisper" with better throttle response and slightly better overall performance.
The difference between the engines is very noticeable to car guys and less so to cruisers.
Some people, who must have lead butts, cannot feel any difference between these engines.....

Old Marine?
Of the above suspensions, I'd like to try FE3 out, but I doubt a rental would have it. Maybe they'll have FE2.
No, I'm not an "old" Marine. I'm 21. I went to PI in November `05, and fractured my hip while I was there. I got an honorable medical discharge in June 2006. |
