View Full Version : Why should I keep this car immuneone 03-23-08, 11:23 AM I bought a 2004 SRX V8 AWD back in 2004. It has 30,000 mi on it. In the last 3.5 years, the front brake pads have been replaced 3 times, rears once, new rotors, steering box replaced, engine main seal replaced, roof racks are rusting, outside rearview mirror on passager side won't return to normal position after in reverse, and now have water in the jack well.
My wife bought an RX330 at the same time. It has 55,000 mi and has only had routine maintenance.
Never again. sgilbert 03-23-08, 11:30 AM Because you loved it once; all major problems have been fixed; it's a great traveling car; AND trade-in is horrendous!
Buy the extended warranty for peace of mind.
I still love mine (off warranty in 1 month) and plan on keeping it for 4 more years, at least. 06 32K miles. None of these problems you have had. Looks like I got the
only good one, and you shoulda bought a Lexus.
If you are that unhappy, why are you even asking?
Life is too short to be miserable. I bought a 2004 SRX V8 AWD back in 2004. It has 30,000 mi on it. Waaaa. Sounds like someone is a Toyota employee lurker :lies: The RX330 a first year model ?
Never buy the prototype akdj1055 03-26-08, 09:59 PM My "warranty" (however GM wants to interpret it on any given day) expires in a few months. I can't see how I could afford to keep this vehicle - I've had way more troubles than listed above - and only some were repaired under warranty.
It took me three different dealers to fix the same mirror issue described.
The sad thing is my '04 Silverado with 133,000 miles hasn't required a single repair yet - only computer recommended oil changes and one set of tires. So they know how to build reliable vehichles - just not across the entire company. And to really make you feel bad IMMUNEONE, I haven't touched the brakes yet either - yes, it still stops just fine. Northern SRX 03-26-08, 11:18 PM The RX330 was the vehicle that finished #2 on our list after we cross-shopped everything back in '04. The SRX hasn't had sterling reliability but it's been way more fun and just as versatile as the RX would have ever been. Our lease is up in a few months and we're seriously contemplating another SRX. Why? It perfectly fits our needs and we're willing to put up with a few issues in exchange for its performance attributes - the latter being something that the RX can, unfortunately, never claim. If, however, you don't value the more visceral side of performance, then go with the safe vehicle - unquestionably, the Toyota would be a good candidate. As said above, life is too short - you might as well drive what you want. | |
