:woohoo: Wow, just watched the first game, pretty intense. I don't count that first goal 2 mins into play because it was just a deflection. I bet Lightning will take the next game.

p.s. you sure there's no French Canuck in the Tampa goalie? :D

most of the time if the game sells out ticket wise then people at home get to watch , but if there are tickets availble then we get a "blackout", lightning most of the time can be seen on either espn or the florida sports network (sunshine) for some reason they dont use the sellout ticket method , they just know some of us dont like to drive that far

Congrats on winning game 2. Enjoy it while you can. :D Boy, Tampa plays rough when they are nervous, as seen in the 3rd. period! :canttalk:

p.s. one of the Tampa players is from Saskatoon! They interviewed his Mom on the news, but I just caught the end of it so don't know the name.

In pro sports it should be City against City , since players are from around the world. And they do not care who they play for as long the US dollars are there.

not sure whose payroll is highest but there very far down the ranks (26th 27th?) when it comes to payroll , philly i belive is the best funded team

im hopeing for a cup win for tampa , i think it will bring even more respect for tampa bay sports , which untill a few years ago was always a joke to most people (outside arena football)

ok as much as it pains me to say Go Flames Go ......(Oilers well ....maybe next year ..loop, maybe next year loop, oh well we had the 80's :coolgleam ) ...I agree. Both teams earned being there (boy would have like to put $100.00 in Veags on either team back in September, my 92 caddy might have been an '02). It has been great hockey , with at times unreal goaltending (a requirement for Lord Stanley) and hard nose old time hockey (aka I went to the fights last night and a hockey game broke out).

Too bad it is not in HDTV. I have seen a few games in HDTV - you can see the beads of sweat come off the players are they are smashed into the boards. We need more HDTV !!!! (Freeking CRTC in canukville not helping).

I PVR'ed (TiVo) the game - had to play ball. Took about half the time to watch (love that skip ahead feature :D ). Calgary had chances from what I saw ...no goals (freaking 2 man advantage ..Kerry Frasier decided this game:annoyed: )

I read somewhere a Stanley Cup Final run will bring 1 million plus in extra revenues to the participating cities. Now Tampa and Calgary get at least one more each. Makes ya wonder . Perhaps owners just padding their war chest for what appears to be an inevitable lock out next year...

if we can win next game im sure we could clench it , like the coach said , few come back after a 2 loss streak

Ralph
06-02-04, 02:38 AM
At this point. it could go either way as both teams just need 2 more wins to clench the tin.

I watch the games on ABC just to see how the Yank media make fun of the cowboy hats, and mounties, etc. :helpless: They said that Lightning is the healthiest team in the league, and Calgary is playing with a lot of injuries. This type of frustration might have something to do with that cheap-shot knocking DeCavialier (sp?) into the boards. Still uncalled for though.

Too bad it is not in HDTV. I have seen a few games in HDTV We need more HDTV !!!!

If you are rich enough (Alb.) :yup: to own a HDTV, ABC is broadcasting these games in that format. I have a 32 in. Philips and have noticed that for some strange reason, ABC is a dimmer and fuzzier picture during the game than CBC has. CBC is very bright and clear, but I like hearing about all the Canadian players on the Tampa team. :p :shhh:

Yep that's me rich owner of a 12 year old Caddy :-) All it took me to convince the wife we need big screen HDTV TV was to move into a bigger house (everything is bigger including the mortgage ) I like the CBC Broadcast.

CBC put the Heritage Classic on in HDTV was awsome. TSN has some NFL Sunday night games in HD, amd some of the NBA games are HD . With a bigger screen and regular broadcast, sport can look fuzzy (taking a bad signal and stretch it out to fill the screen - flaws are more noticible than say on my 32' Panasonic TV).

Trouble is (I have Bell Expresvu) is the CRTC is pretty restictred in what feeds Canadian broadcasters can pick up. Instead of Direct TV and ESPN HD - in Alberta we get TSN HD - whcih has a steady supply of Billards and Lawn bowling (even in HD does not make it worth while).

It will get better , (it is a bandwith issue right now HDTV signal sucks allot of the pipe up )

Hoping the Flames come out burning tonight !!!

By Gawd you are right thanks - albiet it is not true HD (1080i or 720p ) - I think the ABC is enhanced (which is I think 480p or about twice the resolution of regular) - anyway tonight it will be in kinda HD (except for of cousre flicking back to CBC for Coach's Corner)

ABC's HD feed was ok. (As an added bonus the Audio was DD 5.1), so the Home Theater System downstairs was nice to watch :coolgleam however ....

about half the third period they lost the HD feed and we went to regular - did not loose the signal , yet almsot switched back to CBC - anyway overall it was an exciting game. Almost makes me want to head to Calgary and be in the city for Saturday (was here for all the Oilers wins at home- celebrations are something to be seen in person)

Calgary dodged a bullet for sure - Khabibulin played possed and Kiprusoff' was as good , plus a little luckier. Iginla is a man on a mission.

Ralph you have Bell ? Nothing worse than loosing the signal :annoyed: - sometimes when it is raining here that happens (Rain is very bad for the Dish) or heavy snowfall - last winter in a heavy snowfall was out for most of day ....watcha gonna do ? Climb on the roof in a snow storm ? Overall though pretty reliable.

And I also agree Calgary is not Canada's team, but boy the media are sure promoting that one. But for me they are the lesser of two evils. (although be nice to see Andreychuk win one) Did you see those stats - susperstars that never won a championship ? Yaz form the RedSox had over 3000 games - Andreychuk was second with 1700 ish

Calgary has definately become Canada's team IMO. They are our last hope for "owning" the Stanley Cup up here. Tampa residents have really become actively involved in learning hockey just because of this series, as well as record sell-out crowds at the stadium. (according to CBC Newsworld)

I don't have Bell, just Shaw cable, but of course, they use satellite dishes to get the signal where I pay the bill. Something strange happened with the signal allright, but thankfully I can get it on ABC. I may not be able to watch the game Saturday because of company coming, guess I'll have to record it which sucks!

Yeah I checked into it and ABC East (out of Boston I think) had some HD issues - ABC West (out of Seattle ?) was ok - one nice thing about Bell (or Shaw Digitial I believe) is the time shifitng thing - get all the major networks east and west feeds. Was an ABC problem - not Shaw or Rogers.

Should be a good one tongiht. I have plans for Monday so they better wrap 'er up tongiht (have to play ball and it is my wedding anniversary - think a trip to the local pub to watch game 7 is romantic ? :banghead: ) - Hockey finals in June ..damn getting to be too long a season (although I still love it).
