Playdrv4me 03-23-08, 12:27 AM Curious to see how many 50k mile plus STS owners we've got in here, whose got the highest mileage and how the cars are holding up as a result. cocaines 03-23-08, 03:56 AM i got 119,000 km on mine, and for some odd reason all my headlights and fogs lights keep blowin every week. my car has been fixed 4 times for this one issue. and 3 days ago both my right headlight bulb went out along with my left fog lamb. and then i got a ticket 30 minutes later. but to my surprise my left fog lamb came back on tonight. but my car is still going in on monday and they better compensate me for this ticket and give me a free rental. Playdrv4me 03-23-08, 04:43 AM Do you have HIDs or regular halogens? That definitely sucks! How is the car doing otherwise? cocaines 03-23-08, 05:54 AM i have the regular halogens... i wanted to do an aftermarket upgrade to hids but i dont want to put nothing in, until this problem is long past fixed because i will have to keep buying new hids every week. other than the rear diff.. problem that they fixed, everything is proper. 4 weeks ago my car was doing 120km/h on the highway and it jerked and the speed was cut in half instantly as if i slammed on the brakes. when i pulled over on the shoulder the car was smoking from the rear right wheel well and u can smell it from inside the cabin of the car. what ever happened caused the rear control arm to bend and grind against the wheel. when i took it to the dealer they fixed the rear diff and said that it was the cause, but they didnt fix the bent control arm for some reason. when i go back there on monday i will discuss that with them. I just bought mine used about a month ago and it is certified. It has about 44,000 miles on it....so it's close to 50k. I had and oil leak, which was caused by a bad seal around the oil pan. Was told these seals go bad after time. The transmission pump was bad so they had to replace the whole torque converter, which houses the pump. GM doesn't sell the part seperately. Man I couldn't imagine what I would have done if this car wasn't under warranty. The rear differential was going bad. Could hear a loud whining noise coming from the rear and they replaced the differential...no more whine! Make sure you have the rear differentual seal checked on the one you are considering to buy. Now I have a "moaning" problem. It is specifically related to the steering and the steering pump or the A/C pump. Whatever it is, when the car is at idle and you turn the wheel there is a loud moaning coming from the engine and can be felt through the steering column and pedels. It seems that when the extra load is put on the engine when the tire is turning, some one pump is struggling. The dealer guessed that the steering column was binded, so they realigned the sub frame. When I picked up the car, it still "moaned". So I m taking it back in tomorow and they are going to take a look at it again. Good thing the service manager at Ed Morse is great. She sat in thecar when I picked it up and she did hear the noise and is assuring me they will fix it. I hope they do, because this moaning is VERY ANNOYING!!! Other than these issues, the car is runing great! :) Phil triharley 03-23-08, 01:54 PM Cocainnes, hit the DIC for the milage (in E) and let us know what 119,000 klics equates to in miles. And second, just a question, how did you put so many miles on in three years? Heavy travel on the 401, or QEW? cocaines 03-23-08, 02:30 PM it turns out to be 73946.6 miles... yep, since i got my car i been driving it like i stole it. its my first car so i go every where with it, places i use to wallk to i drive, places i used to fly to i drive. it been all over and ontario and all the way east to prince edward island and nova scotia. its been down south to orlando, florida. and i am planning a trip west to vancover. the car is doing about 25,000 miles a year. I thought it was just the wide tires rubbing on the ground. It does not made the groan in my garage becuase I have an epoxy floor. Perhaps it is because the load is much less. It has done it for ever since I got the car. (15K) And now I have 34K, so I don't think it is a safety issue. But please let us know what you kind out! I know the tranny was changed out but don't all the 2005 STS4's have Magride? The one I drove felt really nice. Most solid Cadillac I've EVER driven at 67000 miles. It still felt like a BMW even though the front magride shocks were starting to get a little thuddy. Heavy_Metal 03-24-08, 01:55 AM I have 51,000 miles on my 2005 STS4 1SG. It rides better than ever now that it has the transmission reporgram and the pilot sport A/S tires. I also got the nav system reprogram but I never had a chance to retry the voice commands since then. Once I install the lockpick (thanks to tomm) it will settle my main difficulty I have with not being able to operate some functions while driving. I also hope to upgrade the speakers and amps someday soon. I'm really happy to own such a great car!!! LWJ 03-24-08, 08:51 AM The conversion factor between Km and miles is 0.62. So 119,000 Km is approximately 73,800 miles. Larry eightshb 03-24-08, 09:38 AM The 08 rides like a Cadillac should including the all wheel drive the 05 has a harsh ride in both settings( from the begining) and the Pilot sports as second set of tires did'nt change that. With the 08 you would never know that it is all wheel drive as you never slip or lose the rear end, on the 05 you need to lose the rear end before the all wheel drive kicks in STS2002 03-26-08, 08:39 PM My car does the exact same thing!! Thanks! Ok...got the car back tonight and here is what they did.... -Replaced serpentine belt from TSB #05-02-32-006 -Replaced rack set front toe and gear assembly So far the noise and vibration is pretty much gone. Steering is much smoother. Hopefully i won't have to take it back in for a while! :) Phil shudog 03-27-08, 09:16 AM Heavy Metal - what's the transmission reprogram?
