This may be a problem. I assume you aren't the original owner of the car. Try to find a key hidden somewhere in your car.

Any reputable tire center can easily remove the locks.. If you cant find the key go to any regular tire shop and they will remove them for you. Its extremely fast and easy to get them off.

any idea if they are GM locks or aftermarket? are they they kind that take a "puzzle" key, or a full socket? if you can identify the type or brand it might be easier to get a replacement key. if they are GM brand then the dealer might have a key

You asked the question yesterday and I gave you the answer yesterday.. Go to a tire shop or even any GM Dealer and they will remove the locks. There is no point in reposting the same questions today again.

Doesn't matter the type of lock, Any dealer or tire shop can remove any lock in around 20 seconds.. Its not a big deal.

My favorite tool was a large socket and an impact wrench. It is amazing how many older cars have locking lugs and locking hubs w/o the key. Try getting those things off on the side of the highway in the middle of winter. Do yourself a favor and replace the lug after it is removed. The last car i saw this on was a 67' Cutlass Supreme.

The following photo is not photoshopped. I took this of my neighbor's GMC Luxo-Bus at 5:00 am on the way to the gym one morning. Sometime during the night our middle-class subdivision was hit by banditos who first stole a Honda Accord up the street to use as a transport vehicle. The jack from that car is holding up the rear. The front rests on landscaping bricks from the next door neighbor's garden. According to the owner:

1. He left his billfold in the front seat the night before. GONE!

2. The banditos smashed the right rear door window for entrance and stole some VCR items.

3. They got the wheel lock key from the glove box. Convenient.

4. New 22 inch bright chrome wheels with new rubber. GONE! Loaded in the Honda.

The hit was in north Dallas area. The police said the owner's credit card was used in Brownsville in the late afternoon. Probably on the way to --- Mexico. That's where most of the loot from our area heads.

This house was poorly lit at night. However, another neighbor got the same job on his new giant Suburban in a driveway with two bright lights on the garage and a street light across the street. No wheel locks.

Moral - Wheel locks will slow them down and cause a creation of noise, but only if the key is not handy.

I have known a few crooks in my life and I have also been a victim of theft many times in my younger years. (Wheels, Audio Systems, Etc.) I always thought I was a step ahead since I installed car alarms, car pagers etc. but I have learned if they want your stuff its as good as gone.

I have seen tools that they use to steal wheels and they can take off a wheel lock in 20 seconds or less with very little noise. I even knew one person that went as far as putting on 4 wheel locks on each wheel thinking it would prevent his wheels from being stolen. They ended up getting stolen and I guess the theives were pissed that they had to take all the locks off that after they stole the wheels they smashed a window and put the car on fire.

So in my opinion wheel locks are a waste of money... I dont use them.

In a former life when I was working for Midas I would do about 10 brake jobs a day. Most of the cars would come in without locking lugs, but without fail, at least one per week that would show up would not have the key. Most owners did not even know they had locks until I asked them for the key. Either it was in the glove box or attached to the tire iron. I usually talked then into taking them off and replacing it with a regular lug.

When we were done with the brake job, we would consult the "book" and torque the lugs to the manufactures spec, EXCEPT for the locking lug. It is almost impossible to use the shallow key and apply enough force to torque the lug. Instead we would load the impact wrench with the lock and hammer the lug tight. Most mechanics I know don't use a torque wrench for lugs and just hammer the lugs tight. Now flash forward to a flat on the roadside. Good luck getting the locking lug off after it's been overtightened by a lazy mechanic. I personally stripped a few with an air wrench just trying to get them off.

Loose the locks; they are worthless and may cause you great grief in the future.
