View Full Version : Nav Unit Tilted? labman2 03-21-08, 12:10 PM I noticed my nav unit when fully extended appears to be 'tilted' down on the passenger side so when viewed straight on, the buttons on that side are slightly below the viewing area. Took it to the dealer and they checked another vehicle and stated this was normal. Is this indeed normal. Only thing I can think of is when viewed from driver's seat the tilt is countered a bit - perhaps designed that way I suppose. I just checked mine and there is no "tilt" on the screen. The bottons are square on the screen -- none is below the viewing area. Sounds like the screen alignment on your unit is off. 08 cts new on 02-03-08, no tilt on the navi..the car is nice..joncar GTPprix 03-21-08, 06:14 PM mine is the same way and so is every other one i've seen ;) They arent below the viewing area but the bottom of the icons on the passenger side is alot closer than the ones on the driver to the trim panel. c5Thunder 03-21-08, 10:53 PM Same problem here. Before i bought the car the Navi was swapped at the dealer b/c they used it as a replacement for another sold car which had a Navi failure.
Try pressing down on the trim panel in front of the screen. The trim panel might be a bit higher on the passenger side giving the illusion that the Navi is misaligned when in fact its the trim piece. No problems here. The screen is level. Here is my screen. Man that flash sure does show the dust.

I have never noticed the tilted nav image before in any of the cars that I test drove either, and I tested them all to make sure everything was working as it should.. I hope that you guys/gals can get that taken care of. It would drive me crazy!
Good luck and keep us posted so that if we develop the same situation we can have a plan to fall back on! Would worry so much about the dirt than the Country Music on the screen... :^)
The wife was the last one driving the car.:cowboy: carterb 03-25-08, 11:37 PM My NAV appears to be straight. labman2 03-26-08, 09:18 PM Here is mine - I admit you have to be looking straight on to get the impact. Seems as though its 50/50 shot and nothing dealer can do to correct. Here is mine - I admit you have to be looking straight on to get the impact. Sure there is something the dealer can do to correct it: replace the unit. Like any other computer monitor (which the touch screen actually is since the NAV/audio unit is really a computer) there are settings that can properly align the output of the display. Look at your PC monitor -- you likely have the ability to move the image up and down, stretch it, rotate it slightly, etc. Similar adjustements exist for the NAV/audio unit that are factory set. It looks like your NAV unit image needs a slight rotation counter clockwise. Your dealer probably does not have the ability to make these adjustments, be they can replace the unit with one that is properly aligned by the factory. ddawson 03-27-08, 01:36 PM I suspose you're going to keep the car for two or three years. You sure don't want to keep looking at that, the way it is. Be stern about having it replaced. My absolutely does NOT look like that....it would drive me bezerk JOHN HEROLD 03-28-08, 02:16 PM had the same problem..screen down on the right..there are adjustments..first visit to the dealer in january there was no fix..by the end of february they called me..the screen can be adjusted.. I have driven my 08 CTS for 3000 miles before I noticed the screen on the passenger side is slightly lower than the drivers side. Not nearly as bad as labman2's screen but there nonetheless. At first I tried to ignore it but it is nagging at me and now its all I see. I am going to have to take it to the dealer and be a nit picking customer becasue I can't let it drive me crazy for teh next 3 years. I'm glad to hear the screen can be adjusted. |
