View Full Version : STS LOCKPICK's (Video In Motion) New Prices Ok, Since so many people have emailed me I have decided to take inventory on extra STS Lockpicks so when stragglers decide they want one we have a few in inventory.
Here is the new pricing:
2007 - 2008 STS Users with a mute button on the steerling wheel $235.00
2007 STS Vehicles with no mute button on the steering wheel $265.00
2005 -2006 STS Vehicles $265.00
Shipping will Calculate at Actual Rates on the website.
Relatively the prices are the same except for the 2007-2008 vehicles where the price went down since I do not have to modify them with the override switch.
Ordering them is also going to be easier since many people did not have paypal I sent them up as a sku on my site so you can use Paypal or any major credit card. Paypal is still preferred since we pay less fee's.
Here is the link to order if you have not done so already.
All orders already paid will ship on Monday LStasy003 03-21-08, 04:25 PM Does the lockpick come with detailed installation instructions? It is plug and play, Instructions are posted in the other long STS thread. Should take 10-15 minutes to install it. LStasy003 03-21-08, 05:00 PM Very nice. So the only thing thats needed extra that does not come with the kit is the cripping of the GPS antenna? And what is the sequence for unlocking the screen with an 06 that does not have the mute button? there's no code sequence or nothing to crimp... just a simple install, flip a switch when you need it, done.
I would like to commend Tomm on putting this together for everyone! LStasy003 03-21-08, 05:12 PM oh ok so instead of the mute button it runs on a toggle switch? oh ok so instead of the mute button it runs on a toggle switch?
Yes, You need nothing. Everything is included and you flip a toggle switch to activate the system. Bradygriffin 03-22-08, 11:54 PM Where is the toggle switch located and does it disable any other functions?
Thanks, Where is the toggle switch located and does it disable any other functions?
Thanks,
The toggle switch which activates the system will trick the navigation system to think that you are not moving. With all featured unlocked GPS will not show you moving during this time. That is the only effect it has on your vehicle.
As far as the toggle switch goes its up to you where you mount it. View the longer STS NAVIGATION thread to see where members have chosen to mount the switch. So on an 07 with a mute switch, there is no toggle switch? The mute switch acts as the toggle? I assume at the loss of the mute function? So on an 07 with a mute switch, there is no toggle switch? The mute switch acts as the toggle? I assume at the loss of the mute function?
Correct if you have an 07 with the mute button it would be $235. You do not loose function of the mute button as it will work as the normal mute button but if you press it 4 times in a row quick it will activate the system. sweetdivel 03-24-08, 04:10 AM so does this "lock pick" work with STSs for export?
like now i am in Saudi Arabia, would it work here or no matter what the regen is?
thnx tomm has gone international! Hey tomm, got a solution for speed limiters or the auto up window feature (to close the sunroof as well)? We will pay. ssstealth 03-24-08, 10:17 AM Maybe simple question, maybe not. I have an 06 STS-V built in March of 2006. It DOES have the mute button since it is the "V" package. Does this affect which pakage I should order?
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j248/ssstealth/P1010115.jpg It makes no difference... All 2005-2006's need a unit with the manual override switch. Sorry.. Just ordered a lockpick today for my 2005 sts. my daughter will love this for the four hour ride up north to the cottage. thanx Just a note that new orders are running 4-5 days on backorder. Update... All 2007, 2008 units are now stocked and can ship the same day.
All units that are backordered for 2005-2007 units with the manual override switches will be shipped by Monday, Most will ship Friday. mkammeier 03-31-08, 11:30 PM Hi Tom ... it is too late to place an order for a 2005 STS through your website?
thanks, Mitch lock pick came today, lightning fast shipping, I will install it tommorow and see the results, thanx Hi Tom ... it is too late to place an order for a 2005 STS through your website?
thanks, Mitch
We ran out again but will have a few more units available the end of next week. Hortaja 04-02-08, 11:14 PM Yep, I will need one for my 2005. I should be buying a 05, V8 1SF with Mag ride and Nav Saturday. If i do I will definitley need/want a lockpick.
Keep up the great work.

Noticed on the video he left the acc. pwr. on while installing and pulling the unit out ..
Is that necessary?or should the pwr. be off?

No, The power should be off when connecting the unit. sweetdivel 04-03-08, 01:18 PM is the tuggle switch included or i have to add one to the unit if i own an 05 V8? is the tuggle switch included or i have to add one to the unit if i own an 05 V8?
All units that require a switch come with one.. Many folks here just change the switches to match their switch preferences but one in included. Does this only affect the DVD operation or does it also unlock some features like being able to switch the mag ride settings while in motion? It tells the navigation unit that the vehicle is not moving so it unlocks DVD playback, Unlocks all Navigation Features, Unlocks Bluetooth Features etc. Never looked at the magnetic ride controls so I cant tell you. I can test it tonight or maybe someone else can chime in before this evening. Installed the lockpick this morning, works perfectly. I removed the lighter socket, made an adaptor to fit into the black plastic lighter holder and epoxied the on-off switch to my adaptor. stealth and very easy to access. I never use a power outlet, but if one is needed I'll use the one in the console. this thing is great. no if someone would be able to hack the ecu so we can get a few more ponies fron the v-6 STScadillac99 04-04-08, 08:21 PM Does this only affect the DVD operation or does it also unlock some features like being able to switch the mag ride settings while in motion?
i was able to switch mag ride settings while in motion before i installed the lockpick. just hit the CONFIG hard key on your NAV unit. do you have the latest dealer software update? i think that is made possible with the latest dealer update to to NAV unit. someone correct me if im wrong... Bradygriffin 04-04-08, 09:53 PM OK, I see that it works on an '06 from the order page. Can't seem to find the install video. Also, what is delilvery time?
Thanks, Bradygriffin 04-04-08, 11:03 PM I just purchased one. Hoping it's all the rave... 2005-2006's will ship Tuesday or Wednesday
2007-2008 units will ship on Monday or Tuesday.
All the info you need on installing the units is in the long STS Navigation Thread. Bradygriffin 04-04-08, 11:28 PM DS1784,
Ordered LockPick for my '06 tonight, could I have a pic of your install? I like the idea of going to the socket in the front.
Thanks, mkammeier 04-07-08, 05:43 PM We ran out again but will have a few more units available the end of next week.

You seem to be a popular guy. Well I just ordered one too. This is for my 05 STS that I just bought today. No rush to ship mine, ok.

Jerry Earthdog 04-08-08, 07:04 AM Tomm's LockPick for Sale:
I just got my LockPick last week. Well I traded my STS for an 08 CTS the same day. Unfortunately I could swap it with Tomm so he said to post it here. PM me if you interested I can ship it to you TODAY brandnew NEVER OPENED. Bradygriffin 04-09-08, 12:14 AM DS1784,
Great idea and thanks for the pix. I hope you don't mind if I copy this brainstorm.
BG Bradygriffin 04-09-08, 12:22 AM OK guys I'm a little confused now. I received an email from Costaletech saying it works without the switch on a 2006 STS IF I have a mute button (see below). Which one is correct??
"If you have the mute button, it will work :)
There is a full installation video showing how to install it step by step
right on the website. The unit comes with a text representation but after
watching the video it is pretty simple." Bradygriffin 04-09-08, 12:25 AM Another email below from CostaleTech. I must assume he is talking about the "lockpick guru" here we all love and respect. I assume no switch necessary?
"Works with mute on steering wheel vehicles. If no button present, there is a gentleman on the Cadillac forum which can put together a system to add a switch for you. Map tracking will stop while you activate the unlock functions. When you turn it back off, the map will reposition you in a few seconds. No settings are changed. No surprises :) The units are in stock.
Yes, the phone dialing is unlocked. If you have A/V inputs on the console, then the Lockpick will unlock them. iPODs need the APPLE A/V cable to be able to output video so make sure and get one first and then select TV out from the menu to enable the video out on the iPOD.
Thank you for your interest :)" I can only speak from my own experience and tests. The 2008 unit did not work on the 2005 & 2006 STS vehicles we tested even if it had a mute switch. We were only successful on 2007+ vehicles.
I also just checked Coastals site and their new product still only lists support for 2007 & 2008 Vehicles, Also checked with NavTV to see if they had anything new and they also only support 2007-2008 vehicles. I guess you can be a Guini Pig and try it on your 2006 but I can guarantee mixed results since we had no success on the 2006 we tried it on and definately no luck on 2005's since I tried everything on my 2005 before I made the mod. Bradygriffin 04-09-08, 01:44 AM Thanks Tomm,
I believe you said everything was included so no worries either way. I will do the install on my '06 and post results, with or without switch
BG
PS, It's 12:37 Eastern time, are you up late too or out west? You replied earlier mine would ship today (Wednesday now) or tomorrow. Hope it's Wednesdy so I can do a weekend install. I used to "fiddle" with helping others watch various satellite programming. Seems like it had something to do with writing hexidicemal code on little magnetic strips or something;} I know what a pain it is for your anxious public to wait on you to deliver god-like impossible results to entertain their fancy, not their needs in the blink of an eye. "We're not worthy........."
Thanks Buddy, I dont sleep... Running a business and having a family with 2 young kids and then doing these units I am up from 6:30am to around 1:00am every day... I am amazed how I run with less than 6 hours a day of sleep.
I am behind on the 2005-2006 units and I apologize but I have been extremely busy lately. All 2005-2006 units will ship by tomorrow. Some have already shipped and those that shipped were sent ship confirmation emails already.
From this point forward I will stock the 2007-2008 units so they will ship the same day if anyone needs one. The 2005-2006 units will be modified when ordered so those units will ship 1-2 days after you place your order. No new orders will be filled for 2005-2006 STS units. One of the GPS connectors is on backorder till the earliest 5/7 so we will not accept any more orders for 2005-2006 vehicles for atleast a month. If you have a 2007-2008 STS with a mute button we have those in stock for $235.00 Hortaja 04-20-08, 01:16 AM Tomm
Quick question about the lable on the box outside. It says STS LOCKPICK 2008, but I have a 2005. Now inside the box I have the black box in an envolope and a wireing harness WITH A SWITCH. Do I have the right thing since I have the switch version? Sorry for my question/confusion. If I do have the correct unit for my car then Thank you very much, I can't wait to instal it.

Do you think you will be making more units for the 2005-2006 STS after May 7th when you get the GPS antennas in? I am greatly interested and have been dying to get one.
Thanks! Place an order now and I will have one shipped for you next week. Hortaja 04-21-08, 07:38 PM Tomm
Maybe you can answer this maybe you can not or choose not to. I have your lock pick but have not installed it. Why, because since I just got my car on Saturday I have discovered a couple of small thing I wish the dealer to fix. So i am going to drive the car for a week or two and really figure out what needs to be done by the dealer under warrenty. My concern/question for you is. Should I wait until after i do my thourogh testing of the car and the dealer fix my issues before I instal your lock-pick or do it now. Persoanally I could wait, yes having the NAV blocked out is a pain but at the same time the car is new and I "Should" be paying attention to the road. But the real concern is could the dealer discover it and void any warrenty I have left.
Like I said I am not trying to put you on the spot. My current plan is to wait until I get the car back from the dealer and all is to my satisfaction before i install lock-pick. But if you feel sure they will never check, care, or even know what a lock-pick is sure as heck i would love to install it. So let me know and your easy out is just to tell me to wait...
And Yes I was crazy enough to pay and order a lock-pick before I even got my car. I knew I HAD to have this and had faith in the information I read on this board, thanks to all the great members.
Jerry Depends on what your issues are. I have had a lockpick device in my cars for years and never had any issues. For normal maintenance I always left it in the vehicle. If I brought the unit in because it needed the nav flash update or something having to do with anything thats controlled by the nav I would remove it before I brought it in. Bradygriffin 04-22-08, 12:53 AM Just installed LockPick for my 2006 STS. It was easy and straight forward, just follow the video. The plugs on the LockPick are the same color as those on the radio/nav. You must press the little toggle on the side of the plugs to pull them out but a 5th grader can do it. I had to install the extra switch (2005-2006), and I STOLE the idea of where to place from DS1784 (thanks!), pix attached. I went to Lowe's, Hardware section, the "pull out drawer" area. A picture of the plug is attached also. Drilled a center hole with a small bit, then larger, then the correct size. It plugs perfectly into where the lighter was. To remove the lighter:
1. After plugging in the wires (simple), place the radio/nav back in place, put the two top bolts in, but leave loose.
2. Remove two bolts on sides of A/C and Ash/tray.
3. The reason to leave loose, is you have to lift up the radio/nav and AC just a little so the ash tray will come out.
4. On the plug for the lighter, the blue retainer (thing that keeps it locked in place), comes straight off the end.
5. INSIDE of the lighter barrell (where you plug things in), find something to press in the little tiny black squares, one on each side. The barrell will then slide out.
6. The only part of this that requires even a little tech skill, is to un-solder the wires from the plug, slide them through the hole you drilled in the Lowe's plug, then solder them back. It does not even require adding solder.
7. Put it back together and it looks PRO.
8. Forgot to add, when you take off the molding around the radio, use a very small screwdriver and start in the lower corner, I started on the driver's side. Once you can get your fingers under the edge, just use the technique the "video guy" does, putting your knuckles against the dash and pulling out with your fingers. Just pull out a few inches, them move up, and up, and up. The retaining clips are metal and unless you are reckless, no problems.
How it works:
1. Press the button in, the Nav stops tracking. This is the only thing you notice, except EVERYTHING you could not use works.
2. Press the button again, after a few seconds the Nav resumes.
Summary: "As advertised, quality, delivery and installation. You would have to be a "brick" not to be able to install. If you've ever put a CD player in your car, close your eyes and put it in. Otherwise, pay some guy a few bucks for the install.
BG for a 2008 STS: The only thing I haven't seen mentioned here is if the Bluetooth functionality works with the lockpick installed. And, does the mute button have to be activated in order for those functions to work? Would this also stop GPS tracking and suspend a route in progress? Yes, Bluetooth answering etc. works just as it does now. But if you make a call you need to unlock the system first and the menu will unlock. If you are in the middle of a navigation trip you will not move during the lockpick activation but after you make your call you can hit the mute button again to deactivate it and your navigation trip will continue to work and the call will continue without interuption. Makaveli405 04-25-08, 08:31 PM Is there one that works with the mute button on an '05? No.. And no more development is going into the old models. Its a manual button or nothing. DavidThePerson 04-27-08, 01:50 AM Hey, Tomm.
I was wondering how I can put a lockpick order in for a 2006 STS. I was wondering if it's relatively easy for someone with not car stereo knowledge to install. Shoot me an e-mail at fishfo[no_spam_PLEASE]@gmail.com . All backorders which have been placed recently for 2005-2006 STS Lockpicks have been cancelled. The GPS connectors that have been on backorder have been delayed further and after checking on them today the parts are now showing backorder till the middle of June. We do not want to hold backorders that long so we have cancelled these orders.
We do have in stock the 2007+ units but no 2005-2006 units. Until we post that we have the parts back in stock please do not order the 2005-2006 units.
Sorry,
Tom Hey I just wanna get this right before I buy. The lockpick will work on 05 models but it will not work buy using the mute button on the 05 STS. Correct? Hortaja 05-27-08, 11:49 PM Hey all I have installed my lock pick and love it. It was a peice of cake like everyone has said except tucking the wires back in and getting the gps wire connected properly were time consuming. I can definitly highly reccomend the product...
dattsr... for an 05 like I have you do not use the mute botton, but instead a seperate tiny switch. I will post some pictures of my install. thanks for the info, i cant wait to try it out FYI.. I have not visited in a while so to give everyone an update. We cancelled all backorders on the 2005-2006 STS Lockpicks. The GPS antenna connectors are still on Backorder and last date I saw was 6/28/2008. There is no need for me to hold anyones funds so all backorders were cancelled.
We do have plenty of the 2007+ Lockpicks in stock for the $235 but we do not have the parts to complete the 2005-2006 versions at this time. sweetdivel 05-31-08, 06:43 AM hay tomm I've been waiting to hear from you long ago.
any way i bought one for my 05 and installed it but i don't know why it keeps disengaging. any solution? Which model did you get? Switched or Non Switched?
If you purchased a switched unit there is no reason it would ever get disengaged unless you have one of the switch wires pinched or the wires on the switch got loose. Check your wiring to see if any of these wires were pulled to hard when running the switch. sweetdivel 05-31-08, 12:56 PM i bought the one with the switch
I'll re check the wiring and will have the switch replaced coz I'm suspecting it has a problem. I'll let you know what happens.
thnx i just ordered the lockpick for my 2008 sts v8. i traded my 2000 sts wht dia fully loaded in for the 2008 v8 blk raven/ cashmere with lux collection pkg. i really like this car however i do miss the adaptive seats it had but, i dont miss the oil consumption that came along with it. i am looking forward to installing the lockpick and getting around the frustrating lock-outs. thank you for all your help. What switch did you use in the plug? Here's another idea on where to mount switch. I replaced an existing screw with the switch. Used a pushbutton switch instead of the toggle, fits better in the location I placed it as the screw was recessed, difficult to flip a toggle.
The switch is located under the passenger side dash, near the center console, just behind the glove box. Probably easiest to see this on the center image. Toward the bottom of the pic is the passenger side carpeting, on the L is the center console, and on the right toward top is the glovebox handle. sweetdivel 06-03-08, 06:45 PM Which model did you get? This makes no sense since it would either work or not work. With the switch in the OFF position the video SHOULD cut off after 8 MPH... When activated it will stay ON after 8 MPH... Maybe you just have the switch in the off position since the way you are explaining your issue its acting as if the switch is off. tomm

actually, in normal conditions, the video cut off when I shift from Park position. there is not a cretin pattern for my problem. some times it stays engaged and some times not but in general it does not stay on for longer than a minute. actually, in normal conditions, the video cut off when I shift from Park position. there is not a cretin pattern for my problem. some times it stays engaged and some times not but in general it does not stay on for longer than a minute.
In normal operation on the 05-06's with the lockpick installed putting the vehicle in drive has no effect on the video playback. Only when you hit 8MPH is when the video cuts off regardless if the override switch is on or off.
You must have touched the dip switches on the lockpick unit itself. Make sure all dip switches are OFF. I would bet you have one of them in the on position. Only time you need to use the dip switches is on the 2007+ STS vehicles. If one of the dip switches is on unplug power to the Lockpick unit, Put all dip switches back in the off position and re-connect everything. On 2008:

The Video is for 2007+ STS Vehicles... 2005-2006 are different. If you put dip 5 down like in the video that would probably be your problem. On 2008:

1. Yes, System will be off when vehicle is re-started.
2. Press the Mute button 4 times to activate it or press it 4 more times to deactive it.
3. Navigation system does not work in active mode. THe way these mods work is to trick the navigation unit into thinking you are not moving. Therefore you will not move on the map when you activate the system. If you want to use bluetooth while using navigation you can active the system, make your call and then re-activate it and the navigation system will recalculate you. Hey Tomm, I am new to this just picked up a 05. The first thing I noticed was the lock out. So I just started searching for a solution and I found out about your research and development of this part. Well I never finished reading that your part was on backorder..and ordered the part of your website..... But It really dosen't matter to me I already sent a payment, and well just send me one when the become available.. Dont bother sending me a refund I can wait.. thanks AJ ssstealth 06-08-08, 04:00 PM Yet another mounting idea...
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j248/ssstealth/STS-V/img105.jpg
What I did was get a normal rocker switch from the local parts store. This style seems to be available at all of the chains. The square design is larger than the hole left by removal of the lighter/power port. Get the mounting plate from the store also because the hole is too large for the switch to mount alone. I cut the mounting plate down to fit behind the hole and set the switch inside.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j248/ssstealth/STS-V/img102.jpg
There is gobs of room for the wiring once the power port is removed. The switch has a decent look and feel as well and works great with the system. This also makes for easy access for either the driver or passenger.

Did you disconnect the unit as I explained in my earlier post before touching the toggle switches? I know you say you tried it in different positions but unless you disconnect the unit from power you can switch them all you want and it will not make a difference. We test each unit prior to shipping so its rare that something happens once it leaves here and 99% of the time if something is wromg its user error.
Disconnect power from the.... Make sure all DIP's are off... Not all ON... Wait a minute and reconnect. If there is still a problem send it back and I will test it. It also takes a week or more when you post to reply so when I dont hear from you in 2 weeks I assume you got it working. STScadillac99 06-27-08, 09:44 AM Hello TOMM....i sent you a PM regarding a repair on my lockpick harness...thanks... jmac660 06-28-08, 04:31 PM How do I get one of these for my 05 STS? Ok, All backorders that were placed in the past 2 weeks were made today and some shipped today and the balance will ship tomorrow.
After taking into consideration the small profit we make and the amount of time we spend on making these, testing them and supporting them we have decided that we are are no longer going to make these mods. By now all forum members that wanted one have been taken care of. This was started just to service the forum members here and I think we have accomplished that. Glad I was able to help you guys out... Now its back to our normal business and time to retire the soldering iron. Hello TOMM....i sent you a PM regarding a repair on my lockpick harness...thanks...
Send it back and I will repair it for you. jmyrick 07-01-08, 05:18 AM Nooooooooooooooooooo ! I Need One for a 06 Before Your Put The Iron Up For Good!!!!! Moonstone05STS 07-01-08, 07:51 AM I just placed an order for the Lockpick Sunday afternoon (#41502) and my order shows as Backordered. Are you still going to be able to fill our order??? We just purchased our 05 STS and have been searching for a Lockpick that will work for the STS and you are the only one! I hope that you will be able to fill our order. (Please) Thanks!! ssstealth 07-01-08, 09:12 AM Tomm,
Thanks for your efforts!!! I am so relieved to have a solution for this.
I am also still amazed at how little forethought went into some of the restrictions of the Denso system. I think my favorite is the CD/MP3 track scrolling button. Instead of just scrolling down with one press, you must select the last song on the current screen, then press forward one track, which presents the next 4 tracks, then repeat until you get to the track you want. The thought that this adversion or stopping the car in traffic, is safer than a single press is just plain rediculous! Yes, As mentioned above all backorders were assembled... Some shipped yesterday and the balance of the units will ship today. Nooooooooooooooooooo ! I Need One for a 06 Before Your Put The Iron Up For Good!!!!!
Sorry Dude.... What people have to understand is that in order for it to be worth our while we need to buy the lockpicks to modify in a minimum of 6-10 pieces. The demand has deminished since we did everyone that wanted one already. Now we get maybe a person a week that wants one. So since we are out of them I would have to buy lets say 10 more lockpick to be able to make the one piece and then sit on the rest of them until they are sold which could take weeks or longer so its not worth our time anymore.
If you want to buy one yourself from Coastal and send it to us to modify for you we will do it for $50 but we are not going to buy them in bulk and sell them anymore. Moonstone05STS 07-01-08, 02:44 PM I got my email confirmation today! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!! lreddiablo 07-02-08, 07:51 PM Thanks Tomm again for all your work with this issue. Without you, I would not have been able to enter in destinations while on the move or allow my passengers to watch TV while moving for the psat couple months. Tomm
thank for the lock pick i receive today. It came on time but unfortunately i cant get it to work. everything else seems to work except the DVD. I think the picture funtion is faulty. Have you tried playing a DVD before you installed it? Did you play with any of the dip settings? Regulator 07-06-08, 10:59 PM I just bought mine from your site!
Can't wait to get it! Maximln 07-08-08, 10:18 PM Hi Tomm! Unfortunately, I have been away for a few months and it seems that in my absence, the product that I have wanted and waited for 2 years now has come...and then gone! Ha ha Just my luck! But maybe there is still hope! I have an 06 STS with no mute button. I saw in one of you posts that if I purchase a lockpick from Coastal Tech (that would be the one they have listed for the 08 STS?) that I could then send it to you for a fee and that you would be able to modify it to work on my car? Is that correct?
Thanks so much,
Max 05sts&escalade 07-10-08, 01:01 AM Tomm,
I am new to this forum and I just bought a 2005 STS. I have read through this entire thread and what you have done is for these guys is AWESOME. I been in the car audio field for a long time and I have been trying some of the things mentioned in here and have had nothing but trouble. What would it take for you to either send me the directions on how to build this module for some $ or for you to just build me one as well? I know you are ready to hang it up and call it quits on this unless you can get commitments to buy 6 or more but just let me know and I will pay it even if it means getting the part from Coastal myself and sending it to you. Please let me know.
Thanks! sweetdivel 07-10-08, 08:32 AM Did you disconnect the unit as I explained in my earlier post before touching the toggle switches? Good day tomm;
I tried your solution and it worked for a couple of days and disengaged again and again but with longer interval. jmyrick 07-11-08, 12:12 AM I will buy 2, 1 for my 06 1SG and 1 for my wifes 05 1SG. Lets see if we can get Tomm to do one last batch for the WAY late forum members. I am willing to buy one for my 06 as well.Been busy with my first kid. What do you say , how bout one more batch? 05sts&escalade 07-12-08, 02:55 PM According to tomm, he only needed to get 6 people to do the order. So now we have 4 and I am sure there will be more as the word is getting out about the system. Maximln 07-14-08, 07:55 PM If jmyrick does buy 2, then that is 5! It appears tomm hasn't been around for a few days. I hope we didn't scare him off with all of these new orders! :crying: Mallett STS V 07-15-08, 10:39 PM I'm new to the forum, but I'd buy one for my 2006 also... 05sts&escalade 07-16-08, 02:12 AM Well, I am going to order the lockpick for the 07-08 Escalade since it wires in the same way to the 05 up STS. If you read back through the posts, all tomm is doing is buying these and using 2 relays and a toggle switch. There is also NAVTV who builds a similar item. I talked with my NAVTV rep today and he states that there is a possibility of getting this to work with their unit. I will try it an let everyone know when I have figured it out. If tomm doesn't want to respond and help the rest of us as we have politely asked, lets build our own. No offense to tomm since he has spent a lot of time on this and slightly hinted to how he has built these and I greatly thank him for it, but I think I can figure this out as well. I will order the Lockpick and the NAVTV parts through my car audio store, build them and let you all know what works best. It could be a week or two before i have an answer for the remaining few of us who want them. jmyrick 07-16-08, 02:47 AM I'm in, keep us posted. Maximln 07-16-08, 01:13 PM I am sure that tomm will reply when he gets a chance. He had stated before that he doesn't check very often. We all have busy lives.

Some people make me laugh... I have spent months searching for the right way to modify these units going through connector after connector, relay after relay until I gut this just right. Without my persistance there would not even be a Coastal 2007+ Lockpick available which I spent tons of time getting coastal involved in making it since they were not interested. I tested numerous units, demo's and other trial units from NavTV, etc. and took my dash apart over 10 times for us to be where we are today.
I own my own company and I am a very busy person and hanging out on a forum is somthing I do not have time to do especially with two little kids at home. There is even a thread here if someone looked for it instead of looking to be spoon fed and complaining that I do not respond quick enough with all the parts, part numbers, prices, sources for everything you need to build these yourself.
The problem is tools are expensive and some things need to be purchased in bulk such as the thin antenna cable that needs to be used to make the navigation antenna connections. I ordered 100ft roll of cable and I used it all. In order to make just one more 2005 Lockpick with an Override Switch I need to spend another $50+ just to get more cable.
This is not something that was profitable for us. With the time spend modifying these, getting parts constantly, shipping costs, time spent supporting these we made nothing but did it to help you guys out. We were charging $265 a unit which is $15 over what Coastal is charging for the unmodded units... Yes, So it you bought it for $250 and did it yourself do you think you could mod them for $15... NO WAY! But we get complaints after complaints about how long backorders were taking, some people calling us on our toll free number and taking time from my sales reps day answering questions about the product, tracking information, installation information, etc.
Again, Making modifications is not our business... Nothing close to it. We did this as a favor to the members here and it has gotten out of hand.
I gave everyone a choice.... Want to make one yourself I supplied in another thread a full writeup and every part you need to make one and the source for each part. If you want us to do it we will do it for $50 over Coastals price.. $249 + $50 = $299.... We are not going to do it for anything less anymore because we make nothing on them. I am still willing to pay the 299 whenever you get a chance to make a few.thanks I am still willing to pay the 299 whenever you get a chance to make a few.thanks
Backorder it and I will ship you one on Monday. Done,My wife, daughter and I thank you very much! saleenc330 07-18-08, 12:42 AM Tomm - if its not too late, i'd like to join in and order one for my 06 STS-V. Just let me know what I need to do and I'll send you the $299 (+whatever for shipping/tax??). You sound like you've got this down pat, so I wouldn't want to buy from anyone else. 05sts&escalade 07-18-08, 04:07 AM Again, there was nothing intended against tomm. He has done something great for everyone here as I stated before and would like to just order one as well since he has it down. I understand people get busy and can't hang out on forums. I usually don't either but I just picked up my STS and that is the main reason for me to be on this forum after doing a google search about this. I am very impatient and was going to try my own since there wasn't a response. I appologize if offended anyone for trying one myself. If tomm will still make some, as I said before, I am in. I received 3 backorders and I have enough parts in stock to produce the 3 units this weekend and I will ship them on Monday. If anyone else backorders one it will ship the following Monday since I will only be doing these on the weekends from now on. I work from 9:00am to 7:00pm during the week and when I am done working I dont want to go home and start soldering and staying up real late doing them so I will only do them on the weekends. Maximln 07-18-08, 01:07 PM Tomm,
Thank you so much for your reply. It's too bad that you had to be put on the defensive after all the time and energy that you have spent perfecting this device. I would like to thank you for all that time and energy as well as placing an order. Take your time. Once I get it, I am sure that I will thanking you daily! :worship:
Max Maximln 07-18-08, 01:43 PM Tomm,
I just placed an order on your website. Like I said, take your time. There is no rush. Thanks again for all the effort that you put into developing this. I have been waiting for it since I first got the car 2 years ago!
Max jmac660 07-18-08, 05:02 PM I can't seem to find it on his web site, where did you place your order for one? Maximln 07-18-08, 08:23 PM If you go to page 1 of this thread, there is a link in one of Tomm's messages.
Max saleenc330 07-20-08, 04:17 PM Tomm - i placed my order today. No rush for me either, so take your time. Thank you so much for everything you've done with this endevor!
hey 05sts&escalate - i wasn't offended by what you were saying, so i hope you didn't think my comment about buying from Tomm only was a shot at you! : ) jmac660 07-20-08, 09:44 PM Thanks, Max This evening as I was putting together the backordered SWITCHED versions of the lockpicks I realized that the harness that I start with was different on the latest batch I received. After a few minutes I made alternations to the harness and on a digital meter everything tested 100% but to make sure I need to get the unit installed and tested. I am done taking apart my STS dash as I have started to get cracks in the wood from removing it so many times. Instead I will 2nd day air the unit to the first person that backordered it so it can be tested before I send the rest of them out.
If all goes good the rest will ship later this week and any new backorders will ship next Monday. Sorry for the delay but I want to make sure there are no issues with the new harness. I'll let you know if it works or not. Besides the unit not working correctly, what else am I looking for?
2nd- Would you mind removing my name from your post?
Thanks Maybe an admin can do that. I did not have your forum user name so I did not know who you were on the board. There is no edit button after a few minutes. If it works there is nothing to look for. If it does not work I will give you a return label and I will have to take my car apart and see what else might be different. I am very confident that all changes that needed to be made were made so if you plug it in (Make sure no Dips are on) put it in drive (Video Will Stay On) once you hit 8 MPH the video should cut off and if you press the override button video will come back and stay on. 05sts&escalade 07-22-08, 01:40 AM saleenc330,
thanks for the post, no offense taken :) i am just glad tomm is still making the parts also and getting them to everyone here! He obviously has the unit down to a science and he is truly working hard for all of us. Regulator 07-23-08, 08:33 PM Worked flawlessly in the DVD mode!
Haven't yet checked the other modes (BT, NAV, etc) but I'll report back tomorrow.
Thanks so much, easy install with the exception of getting the unit back in.(lack of space for the actual harnesses) roberts06sts 07-25-08, 01:13 PM How did the new harness work out? I have an 06STS-4 and I need one of these. I'm getting ready to place the order, but was hoping all the kinks were ironed out.
Thanks. jmyrick 07-31-08, 12:44 AM Received mine today for my 06 1SG and it works perfectly.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into this BIG project!
I'll send a pic of my 3 year old in his car seat grinning from ear to ear while watching Thomas the Tank on his way to daycare.
Thanks again! Maximln 08-01-08, 10:05 PM Tomm,
You have made the most amazing device! Thank you so much for doing it! I just got the Lockpick for my 06 STS and it works flawlessly! I had forgotten how good the Bose speakers were playing a movie in surround sound since up to now, the DVD feature was pretty much useless. It just sounds incredible! And on top of that, I can program navigation, dial my phone, and I now have access to control all my mp3 disc functions?! It is just incredible.
Thanks again Tomm!
Max Benjamin Simon 08-03-08, 11:36 AM Tomm, if you don't mind me asking, how many have you sold? I am curious how many that company has missed out on. Tomm, if you don't mind me asking, how many have you sold? I am curious how many that company has missed out on.
I have not kept track... The company has not lost out on anything because I am still buying their units and then modifying them to work on all the models so for each one that I sell I am buying a base unit from them. Maximln 08-07-08, 11:49 AM Tomm,
I just had to thank you again. I am in love with my STS all over again! I still cannot just get over how great the surround sound is! I have always loved listening to music but somehow DVD's sound so much better! I also just read through all the other posts in the first thread where you discovered that you could do what you did. It was very exciting to read them. I am just sorry that I missed out on all the initial excitement. I had pretty much given up hope. And despite the flames you were getting, you still pushed through to help everyone out. You truly are amazing.
Thanks again,
Max roberts06sts 08-08-08, 11:34 AM Got mine on Wednesday, installed in less than 30 minutes and within the hour my wife was watching "Hitch" on our way to Michigan. Thanks Tomm!! This was worth every penny I paid. TOMM
I just purchased (8-9-08) a 2005 Cadillac STS with the DVD, NAV, XM system....only has 13K miles. After reading hundreds of responses concerning a LockPick for the Cadillac STS's, I am convinced that I need one for my new purchase. I will pay the $300.00 no problem or even more if required. Just tell me the details where I need to purchase the unit from and send payment to (name, address, Website, etc.). I will be more than happy to forward a money order or pay via PayPal (would need your PayPal address). Anxiously waiting for a response.
Regards,
Marlin I have a 2005 Cadillac STS. What is TOMM's Website to purchase the Lockpick or email address?
Thanks,
