After 3 weeks of waiting for parts to have this issue repaired, i thought it would be good to see how many of us have/had this problem and how long it took to be repaired.. I know of 3 07 srx awd v6's waiting for parts at my dealer alone... 2 of them have been there 3 weeks or more and 1 is going on it's second week of waiting.. I will update this post with #'s as people post up...

Avguy 3 weeks Mar 1/08 taken to dealer
TSB J0820. We had our 07 SRX V6 AWD (12000 m) at dealer for 6 weeks last fall to get the defective timing chains replaced. The new chains were not available as several cars were getting repaired nationwide. Our paper work shows that TSB J0820 was accomplished which included installing (2) 12589011 chains, (2) 12616608 chains and (1) 12616609 chain. Car runs good after replacement. Servicing Dealer Frank Kent provided 08 DTS for us for the 6 weeks and GM provided other monetary considerations
We were told that some chains in early 2007 models were not heat-treated by vendor. GM had several redesigns. The chains stretch and car runs dangerously slow as timing is changing. My dealer had good mechanics who knew what and how to fix - engine was stripped down. We have had no oil leaks or other issues with this item. Since that time, we did have oil leak from font shaft seals which were replaced. Recent recall on rear differential seal replace. Another recall for something. Wheel alignment to correct excessive right rear tire wear(slick at 22000). Now have a rear seal leaking on garage floor. And unsolved rear-end (bearing) noise at 25 mph up.
Back to dealer Monday- New differential put in this week and noise fixed.

As mentioned in a previous thread, it took 4 tries until they got it right. However, it is now running perfectly (2007 SRX, V6,AWD, 24k on the odometer).
Culprit was, besides the timing chains, a bent tooth on one of the sprockets, so, once that was discovered and corrected, timing problems solved.
After calling GM CS last week, the parts needed to repair my Srx were fedxed to the dealer today.. I'm told it wont be until at least Mon before I get it back ..
1 Month and counting!!!! :(

ouch, looks like I'm putting my SRX on the market after I get it back from the dealer (2 weeks and counting), before I get any new issues such as the TC :nono:

yes this was a vendor issue that developed into a huge problem, for the most part we are getting all of ours done and more parts coming in daily
I just took my 07 SRX in for the diff recall and my engine light had come on a couple of weeks ago but they said if the car was running all right to wait for when I had the recall done. Well they just called and the timing chain problem is why the engine light is on. I guess this seems to be a common problem. They told me I should have it for Friday but I'm not going to hold my breath. At least I have an '08 DTS to drive while they're working on it.
