I am getting ready to do the rear discs on my caddy. Any issues I should be aware of? Never done the rears but have done the front. Are they the same. Thanks

Rich

BTW: I did an insert job on my northstar last oct using the inserts I found on ebay. (solid, simple inserts) They seem to be working great and much more inexpensive then some of the other kits. I just bought the inserts and already had the drills and taps I needed.

The back disks are pretty much like the front disks. If you cant find a shop manual, get a Haynes manual or something like that. It won't be as detailed but it will steer you in the right direction.

As with the fronts, no need to pull the brake line. Caliper will swing up. The rear caliper pistons need to be rotated in to spread them [e brake issue], not a straight forward compression. Look here: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/suspension-brakes-tires/85041-rearbrakes-96deville.html
Some use a pair of needle nose pliers to do it, but the cube is an easy piece to find, Auto Zone will lend you a kit, least around these parts.
Use the brake lube you get w/ the pads on all moving parts of the caliber assembly sparingly to assure the slides are not going to hang. Should be no problem for you. K_C

The biggest pain is the parking brake cable. I unbolted the small bracket to provide cable slack to disconnect the cable. Then I rebolted the bracket before I did the swing into final position. I also open the bleed valve, and bleed into a container filled with fluid, while retracting the piston.
Make sure you jack the car high enough to get the wheel back into that stupis skirted wheel well!

Forgot about that cable. As I recall it became a real pain in the butt. I was able to avoid opening the bleeder though. Wanted to avoid it, actually. Had no problem turning the piston in. I did need to crank it up a bit to get the wheel in there, good point. K_C
