I just went to go order a "Blue Chip" 3.6DI, and when the dealer tried to configure the car, it wouldn't let him.

He called his Caddy rep and was told that "Blue Chip" has been replaced with "Blue Diamond" - Code 96U. It was described to me as a Navy Blue Pearl.

I have not seen a picture of "Blue Diamond", which used to be called "Mystic Sapphire" from what I understand.

Has anyone seen this color?? If so post a pic of it. Thanks.

It was my question in a previous thread related to the "Not Availability" of the Blue Chip color. Interesting to see that this color has been renamed. Would like to see pictures as well.
Thanks for sharing.

ngiardina, by chance did you happen to discover what the other discontinued colours were replaced with?

No, but they can't even show me what the Blue Diamond looks like. I am trying to find another car from GM with the paint code 96U

Have not seen it on a car but it is on our paint chip display on the showfloor.

Can you take a pic of the paint chip or tell me what car it is available on so that I can find it. Can you compare it to Blue Chip???????

Here is a link that shows the general color of Blue Diamond Tricoat. Not much to go on here but you get the general idea.

Keep in mind the link is for the DTS so not all colors are available on the CTS. It just happened to have the Blue Diamond, which IMHO, is a very ugly shade of blue if that is the true color.

Yes, tricoat is an effect paint...paint slightly changes colors with changes in light.

Why in the name of god would you delete Blue Chip, a classy navy blue, with that garbage that looks like it came off my grandfather's 82 cimmaron?

Who would pay $995 extra for that?

This is an atrocity. I hope they screwed up in telling me the new color....

Blue Chip rocks...I have no idea why they'd want to discontinue it

I'd relax..I don't think that light blue is the correct color. I did a bit of searching around and found this description on another forum:
I too have seen a sample of that new color 96U. It was originally called Mystic Sapphire, but it looks like they've changed its name to Blue Diamond. It appears to be a navy blue with bronze metallic particles - rather than the traditional aluminum metallic particles - and it looks really interesting. I don't know anyone who has seen a car painted in it: not even my contact at Cadillac. I understand that the color is scheduled to go into production the week of March 27. As with the recently departed Cognac Frost, and Glacier White before it, this color will be exclusive to the DTS and likely be available for only a year or so. One thing for sure, you will not see a lot of them out there. So if you enjoy being just a touch different than the rest, this could be the color for you.

If it has the description of "NAVY BLUE" that means it is a darker blue and it sounds stunning, if you ask me! Check out this picture: http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-corvette-zr1-in-the-gm-design-center/576242/
Somone thought maybe it was this color...it's probably close to it. I'll keep looking. Let us know if you find anything else out. I'm surprised your dealer can't give you a better answer.

I certainly wouldn't panic over the car colors shown in the pseudo paint chips at cars.com. Although they tried their best, what they have there is "cartoonish," if you will, in comparison to the real thing; it's no where near a true representation of what it actually looks like on a car.

Yeah, I would wait until the new Blue Daimond color is shown on the official Cadillac website (http://www.cadillac.com/cadillacjsp/model/gallery.jsp?primary=3&model=cts&year=2008&nid=1&sid=0&id=2).
