The front and rear end remind me of the new Acura RL, and the side reminds me of the G35.
Has Asian creativity diminished so badly, where they're now to the point where they have to copy their own designs?????

But I must admit, the interior is pretty nice.

I think it looks better than the current one, the Accord, or the Camry....not that I'd buy one.

And yes, the interior is really nice.

Actually, yeah, now that I think about it, that is less optically offensive to me than the Accord or Camry.

I HATE the plastic car look of the sliced off fenders. Hate it on the Altima, hate it on the Maxima. You may not like the Accord, but at least it's smooth. That Maxima looks blocky in a bad way. The interior is nice, but not anything groundbreaking.

I like the interior, but the Ext is butt ugly IMO.

Blech! That thing gives the fugly Accord a run for it's money. Another hideous Bangle butt and truly weird-ass headlights. Steering wheel and dash are fugly, too.

If the American makes can't sell their cars when the Japanese designs seem to get weirder and uglier with each iteration, there's no hope for Detroit.

The tail lights look like they're off a Yaris! That's what it was!! I couldn't pinpoint it yesterday, but now I've got it.

If it wasn't for that it wouldn't be to bad.

Looks like a cross between a 2000-2003 Maxima and a new Altima?

I don't know. I like the current generation Maximas better.
They should have gone with that shape and evolved it.

I looks trendy - no personality.

I sat in one about 3 weeks ago. It was a used 2008 black on black with 6,000 miles. It was loaded and I was very impressed with the interior. The exterior wasn't amazing & awe inspiring but it was nice enough. The interior is what made me want it.

I like it quite a bit now too. It is, essentially, a bloated Altima but as before, taken to the next level in terms of size, features, look, etc. Nissan makes fantastic vehicles in general, and I'm a big fan of the 3.5L/CVT combo as well.

No, the Maxima isn't the tighter and trimmer sport sedan of years ago, but still has great performance and has combined it with a roomier, very luxurious feel.

^^Not really, it's just the common "aggressive" look that is attempted with so many vehicles, a lot of which is routed in the mean & scary looks started with a lot of trucks.

When I worked at a Nissan dealer as a night cashier, I drove an '03 GLE Maxima and my god was that car fast! Especially for a four door V-6 powered family sedan. I still think that car was quicker than that '93 STS I drove last year. If it wasn't faster, it atleast had a more usable power band and better throttle feel.

OK, I just saw a new Maxima in person but it was on a 3 car trailer. At the angle I saw, the canopy is dwarfed by the fenders. It actually intrigued me. I needs to see me some better angles...

I've never cared for the looks of any Skyline. The appearance was always secondary (VERY secondary) to function.

Very true on the Skylines, and the R32, R33 and R34 chassis all had the aerodynamics of a brick. ANY of those that went over 200 MPH did it with sheer brute force.

Hmm... now that I think about it you're right, they are much uglier than the previous models. Something about the new Maxima does look alot like a Evo from the 3/4ths from view, but it is an improvement over the old car. Both had a markup of $1000. I thought that was funny. I would never pay close to $40k for this car; I could get an Infiniti G35 at that price.

I picked up a 1998 triple black Maxima GLE as a college "beater" for my
18yr old daughter.
It was a coworker's car ... I actually went with him to buy it in 2002.
What a great driving car. It has 120k on her, and is very solid.
I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere ... all for the investment price
of $3k.
