View Full Version : Zaino comes in today cntstopthecrooks 03-18-08, 04:42 PM Finally Ive been waiting since last wendseday since i ordered it. I haven't washed my car since i got it last sunday fearing that i will get swirl marks from the car wash, and its been raining lately so its super dirty. Can't wait. ddawson 03-18-08, 04:56 PM My Zaino, is due tomorrow. I was advised to get, ZFX, Z-2 and Z-6. NJRonbo 03-18-08, 05:00 PM Where are you guys buying Zaino from? cntstopthecrooks 03-18-08, 05:02 PM www.zainostore.com i ordered the total protection show car kit ddawson 03-18-08, 05:02 PM Go to Zainostore.com Had my Zaino for a couple months now....just waiting for some decent weather to use it! lordbaby 03-18-08, 10:25 PM last one is after z5z2z6, da ones before the last are dawn washing claying and z7 wash mtdew456 03-19-08, 12:06 AM Looks great! I am ordering myself some Zaino products really soon. Then I just have to wait 90 days from last week since my hood was just repainted and the black vinyl on the doors was replaced as well. Looks great! I am ordering myself some Zaino products really soon. Then I just have to wait 90 days from last week since my hood was just repainted and the black vinyl on the doors was replaced as well.
Why did you need the repaint/repair of vinyl? mtdew456 03-19-08, 01:38 PM The hood needed repainted because of defects in the paint from the factory. There were visible lines on the hood under the clear that most likely resulted from oil or debris on the surface. The black vinyl needed replaced on the passenger side because of bubbles that were forming all over the place. My car has to go back in to get the vinyl replaced again because it wasn't done properly this time. They also get to replace my front passenger door panel because they got blue paint on it, and they sliced the leather when trying to remove the panel along with numerous other scratches that weren't on the panel when the car went in. On a brighter note, I think the paint on the hood is okay now, but I need to look over the clear coat to make sure there aren't any bubbles in it like the first time I went to pick the car up. Just have to wait for warmer weather so I can wash the car and look it over more closely. (Sorry to hijack the thread in a way, but I'm just answering the question that was asked) cntstopthecrooks 03-19-08, 02:19 PM hey guys i zainod my car last night from like 7 to 12. i started with a dawn wash .. then i clayed.. didnt notice much difference with the clay to be honest. Then i did a z7 wash. then i polished with z5 then z5 then z2 then z2 sometime using z6 in between. now i have smudges all over and i dont know what to do.. help???? i don't think i left enough time for wax to dry and buff off. because when i buffed off i didnt really notice me doing anything. just smudging around .. i would polish whole car and then just start from the beginning drying.. no waiting period so i dont know how long it was .. probably like 10 min.. feels nice but theres smudges everywhere. Everything I've read says that smudges mean you've put to much on and that the fix is to do it again.
Maybe Southern or some other expert can help. This is why I have been looking for a professional detailer to clay and to do all the other Zaino stuff to my CTS. I just found one about seven miles from my home. Dr. Detail in The Woodlands, TX, I talked with them, they said it takes about 2.5 hours and cost $185.00. Does this sound reasonable to anyone that has had this done?
I can't remember who brought up Zaino many months ago, but thanks to everyone that has posted comments about this product, I had never heard of it before reading this forum! ddawson 03-19-08, 03:22 PM I think that price would be for a full detail. By that I mean, exterior and interior. You don't want them to do the insde, just the outside. The price should be a littler lower. I wouldn't let anyone put anything on the leather. Great, thanks. What do you recommend for the interior? ddawson 03-19-08, 05:42 PM Allow only clean people in the car. This is not a work truck, and get a bottle of good leather cleaner. cntstopthecrooks 03-19-08, 06:37 PM i just re dawned the whole car completely to take off polish i got as much as i could off now im going to use z6 and restart the whole process making sure i leave atleast 20 minutes to dry and until it gets powdery and ill make sure to get it all off i just re dawned the whole car completely to take off polish i got as much as i could off now im going to use z6 and restart the whole process making sure i leave atleast 20 minutes to dry and until it gets powdery and ill make sure to get it all off
I wish I could help brother, but I know nothing about this stuff. There are others here that have done it. There were some earlier post related to Zaino, have you tried a Search on the forum for Zaino?

But then down here we have never won a World Series, not even close. ddawson 03-19-08, 08:25 PM I think you're too anxious to see the end product. Why don't you give it more time to dry. The instructions tells you to let it dry completely. Let it dry at least an hour. The longer you wait, the better the results. Follow the instructions. There should be no hurry to take it off. cntstopthecrooks 03-19-08, 09:37 PM i tryed waiting longer even letting it try in the hot a** california sun but when i takeit off i dont really notice much coming off. the last coast i took off looks good though im finally getting some results i buffed off and put a coat of z6 now i got another coat of z5 on there waiting to dry then im gna buff of another z6 then repeat process with 2 coats of z2 then im done.. should be done around 8.. i can tell its gna look good i was finally satisfied after i took the last coat.. i was starting to doubt zaino at one point So, you were able to get all the smudges out? How about a couple of pictures when you finish? calcustom 03-19-08, 10:00 PM i tryed waiting longer even letting it try in the hot a** california sun but when i takeit off i dont really notice much coming off. the last coast i took off looks good though im finally getting some results i buffed off and put a coat of z6 now i got another coat of z5 on there waiting to dry then im gna buff of another z6 then repeat process with 2 coats of z2 then im done.. should be done around 8.. i can tell its gna look good i was finally satisfied after i took the last coat.. i was starting to doubt zaino at one point
Zaino should be applied in EXTREMLY micro thin coats. You should be able to go around the car twice with approx. 1 ounce of product.
If you use the ZFX accelerator I would wait 45 minutes before buffing off, if you did not use the accelerator I would wait 1.5 to 2 hours before buffing off. Smearing is an indication of product not fully cured, and / or to much product applied. cntstopthecrooks 03-19-08, 11:05 PM ok i finished 2 coats of z5 now i just put a coat of z2 on .. waiting for it to dry. i must say after i got that second coat of z5 off i was very very pleased. waiting 20 minutes does me just fine and thats what the website says. now that i know what im doing its alot easier. when im all done i will take pics.. it will get dark by the time im done so ill have to take them tommorow. yea the smudges did come out macdad. When im all done for those of you that have never detailed a car before like myself ill run a review of what i did. And trust me you know more about cars then me so dont think you cant do it. Im 16 this is my first car polish, first car in fact, so if i can do it you can. Ill give a review so all the people that have never done this before like me don't do what i did last night. cntstopthecrooks 03-19-08, 11:06 PM oh ya cal thats what i have been doing 1 oz of z5 lasted me two polishes and im planning on doing same thing with z2. this is veryyyyyyy time consuming lol mtdew456 03-19-08, 11:17 PM can't wait to see photos of the end result!!! But then down here we have never won a World Series, not even close.
True, I certainly can't complain about that......opening day is next week, I can't believe it! (in Japan no less :banghead:) cntstopthecrooks 03-20-08, 01:07 AM ok so after my first polish of z2 i began buffing off and it got too dark out for me to see so i parked in garage and am gna finish buffing off tommorow, and then adding last coast of z2 and z6.. ill be sure to take pictures.. someone explain to me how to get them on to the forum please so theres no delay lol. Ron Price 03-20-08, 03:33 AM Zaino is really not time consuming. As was stated earlier, if you are having a difficult time removing the polish, either it isn't completly dry or you have used too much. Also I hope that you are wiping the polish off in between coats. After the car is clayed, you place a small spot (about the size of a dime) either on the applicator or on the car and use that to cover about two square feet. Repeat and when finished, let dry. The drying process depends on the temperature and the humidity. I live in Utah and when I do this in my garage, the temp is around 60 to 65 degrees (in Winter). The time to dry is only 30 minutes or so. Then I use a cotton towel to wipe off the polish. No need to use a buffer since it comes off so easy. If you are using the accelerator mixed with the polish you can repeat the polish process immediately after buffing off the previous coat. You can put a maximum of three coats on at one setting this way. I can apply the polish and wipe off in about 1 hour. If you prefer, you can also use Z6 Gloss enhancer in between each coat. You use this like you would wash a window. Squirt a little on and wipe if off. Add anothe 15-20 per coat if you do the Z6. Yes you should be able to get 2 coats per ounce and possibly three with one ounce of polish. You will not see a big smear of polish like you may be use to. What is so nice is that when you wipe if off you will have not flaking, dust or anything. You should use a system like painting a wall so you don't miss a spot while wiping off. Once you drive the car for a day of two and pick up some dust. Wipe the dust off with a California duster or other duster of your choice and go over the car again with Z6 as explained above. It will look completly re-polished and you are totally satisfied.
If you want to keep your car smelling like new and love that leather smell, apply Cleaner Z9 (if dirty) and wipe with a clean cloth, then apply Leather conditioner Z10. You will love the smell and so will everybody else.
You can do this yourself!!! Of course if you want to pay someone else to do it that's OK too.
I say this since I have been using Zaino products for over six years and I am in fact the Utah distributor. Also know that you can actually email the owner of Zaino products (Sal Zaino) from his web site www.zainostore.com and he will actually answer any questions you have.
I say, when you have tried the rest, buy the best! Zaino! lordbaby 03-20-08, 06:58 AM my suggestion is to let some professional to do it if you never tried once.. look at what they do and learn.. cntstopthecrooks 03-20-08, 04:58 PM yep i just got home im gna finihs buffing ff last coat do a coat of z6 and then last coat o z2 looooooooks so great. what do u guys use on the windows?? cntstopthecrooks 03-20-08, 09:03 PM im all done. im extremely tired. wil get pics up by tommorow/ review.. ill take pictures today but gf has the usb cord so they wont be up until tommorow. im all done. im extremely tired. wil get pics up by tommorow/ review.. ill take pictures today but gf has the usb cord so they wont be up until tommorow.
I'm glad you got through that. Does it look as good as you hoped? There is nothing like spiffing up your own car, standing back, having a cold one and admiring your work. Better make that a cold Mountian Dew, Dr. Pepper, Coke, etc. Zaino is really not time consuming.
mmmmm I don't know if I'd go that far....the results are certainly superior, but I don't think it's all that easy to use (particularly for a beginner).
I've used ReJex in the past and had great results, and that stuff is simply wipe on, wipe off. No Z2, Z5, Z6, ZFX, head spinning.....
I'm not recommending one over the other...Zaino's results are fantastic. But people should know what they're getting themselves into. Southern 03-23-08, 08:20 PM "I'm not recommending one over the other...Zaino's results are fantastic. But people should know what they're getting themselves into."
Definitely.
If you want something that is quick and easy and looks good, use the Rejex.
It has been around for a few years now and is great stuff.
It gives you a factory look and lasts about twice as long as any Carnauba wax.
OTOH If you want a Show Car shine, you will have to spend a good bit of time with Zaino.
It's not hard and I don't reco a buffer.
Just like Rejex, you wipe it on and wipe it off, no "buffing" required.
But, yes, to get full swirl covering (Which Rejex cannot do) or just a better than new Show Car appearance, you will have to put on 3 to 5 coats.
This will last 6-9 months and can be "refreshed" with a coat (or 2) of either Z5 (Swirl cover) or Z2 every now and then if you desire.
As 08CTS says............Know what you are getting into.
I've used Zaino for 15 years and put 5 coats on my CTS (After Clay barring) and I am 70 years old.........so it can't be toooooo hard! ddawson 03-23-08, 10:00 PM Zaino is really not time consuming. If everyone would follow your instructions as written, they can't go wrong. WOOLMAN2 03-27-08, 01:56 PM Just ordered the goods..... I hope they truly are.
I got the Z-AIO, Z-7, Z-6, Z-5 and ZFX. I have a Black CTS with 1200 miles on it and I can't wait until we get some warm weather. It needs a good cleaning. I hate winter......
