My daddy told me the same about the way my girlfriends pick me...but he used Stevie Wonder in his references.

They've been used on a few vehicles now and seem to work VERY well:

Anybody else notice from this video....

They just can't seem to make a decision on the front crest surround (black or body colored). So, 07's get black. 08s get colored, UNLESS it is a Platinum, then you get the 07 black surround?????????????????

It's a prototype, not uncommon to use older parts, have seem them do it on Corvette's for years and then the production model is slightly different.

Looking on GMBuypower, quite a few dealers are listed as having at least one...it just depends on if they actually have it or it's in transit. I'm as far from Escalade buying as anything, but tempted to go find one this weekend for a picture opp.

Ok, I took a 40 mile drive and went and saw two platinum Escalade's, one black and one diamond white, the black one was $79,995.00 and the white was $80.990.00, I did not have my cell or camera :( to answer the question the interior is very nice, the wheels are nice, the grills are ok, just have a problem with it costing 14k more for a slightly better leather in the front and middle row seats and magnetic ride control. It was my newer truck 7k miles on it and basically 30k, they really were not looking to move these trucks being it was their first two, but 80k for an Escalade, they will have to really discount these to move them, or at least to sell them to me. :(

Escalade-V? That would be something. Considering that the new Navigator is going to be quite a bit faster than the Escalade - I wouldn't be surprised if Cadillac went through with this.

I really like the Escalade ESV Platinum. I may be looking at one used in a year or two...

hcvone
04-01-08, 04:05 PM
A Navigator would only ever be faster than the Escalade if the Ford would have 500 hp, they need more hp to run the same performace times as GM, it's suppose to be 425 hp and believe it or not newer L92 Escalade's are putting out 436 hp on the dyno. :) I just may have one of those later this year, my neighbor has 7 Ford dealerships, but I never have owned one.

so we have 436hp stock ? is that the flywheel or to the wheels? i only that 70's muscle cars were under rated. lol

sj1400
04-02-08, 01:32 AM
Larry that's flywheel... 400hp to the wheels would be NICE..

hcvone
04-02-08, 07:36 AM
Long tube headers, exhaust, air intake and dyno tuning will give you 400 at the wheels, I have a customer using the L92 crate engine in his hot rod with those things done and he is over 400 at the wheels on the dyno.

EXACTLY. Discounting Escalades, even significantly so, has been common, but the Platinums are so high that it is no question going to be an STS-V & XLR-V like situation: the new ones there are sit there a while, a big chunk get to be exec cars and then show up certified at dealers with a few thousand miles and tens of thousands off the original price, and in the end, the discounts needed will be big enough to make the difference over a regular Escalade not that big.

They're expensive trucks any way you cut it, but once you go over $70k and especially $80k, people really expect a LOT and even the best new leather, trim, and suspension aren't going to do it. They'll be fantastic, but don't buy one unless it's a CPO with 5k on it for, say, $25k under the original price:thumbsup:

Or, Escalade demand, enough celebrities will scoff them up to really keep inventory moving, at least partially.

Here's two shots of the interior- as you can see, they reversed the Aluminum and wood sections and added hand cut & sew trim on the upper and lower dash pads like an STS-V. The seat leather is upgraded, as well as some other nifty stuff like heated + cooled cupholders, triple TVs, new front fascia (CTS inspired), LED headlamps and more.

The wood inlays you can see in the second picture look really nice in person- obviously an expensive bit to make, but very sharp looking.

My 2007 Escalade's NAV looks just like that when it maps out a destination, tells you exactly how far the destination is and asks you which route you would like to choose. There isn't a 2008 update that I know of.

Well here's the two screens side by side, if I can get the photo attached. The lower one is my NAV showing a route selection. The upper screen is very unfamiliar to me. What are the icons on the right side, etc?

I agree, I drove one this past weekend, while the seats do look nicer, they don't feel any nicer sitting in them, just most expensive. I will probably be drive my first Ford product in the fall a 425 hp Navigator, can't see paying 80k for an Escalade that is no nicer than my 60k Escalade. :(

REALLY? It's either the initial rush or that Escalade buyers will pay out their eyeballs to have the highest model possible. Heh, could be so. Then again, maybe once you get over $50-60k, it doesn't really matter anymore.

The top shot is from an STS Navigtion system. In all the "studio" pictures (like the ones used in brochures) they Photoshop in the Navigation and HVAC displays so they look crystal clear.

There's meaningless little errors like this all over the brochures if you really look for them. :D
