I got the 26th off of work, so I'm good for the whole weekend. All that's left is to decide where to stay and whom to stay with.

Just booked @ isle of capri for 4/25 thru 4/27. Will try to be there on Fri. mid afternoon. Planning on 2 people. Will participate in all events, although I won't race, just be a spectator. Two for golf.

03-18-08, 06:15 PM
Definitely gonna be there all day Saturday, except for the drinking part. :dammit: I think everyone should bring a cigar instead. I will see if I can get a camping spot for Friday night at the Illiniwek Forest Preserve in Hampton, IL. Its only $11 a night for anyone who doesn't have a hotel yet, just bring a tent and a sleeping bag. They have showers and its 13.2 miles (20 minutes, according to Google) from the casino where everyone else is staying and 13.7 miles from the drag strip. The only problem is they might not let anyone in after 10:00, so I may have to leave the drag strip a little early Friday night. I still have to call them and see about open spots. I would have to meet you at the track Friday night since I don't get out of school until 3:30.

The only thing I smoke is rubber, but with this car, I can't do that, so I need to fill my smoking void.

03-18-08, 11:32 PM
Shit, I just remembered. Anyone with a sunroof should probably bring a helmet for racing!!!! If someone has extra helmets laying around I would really appreciate if you could bring them.

I~LUV~Caddys8792
03-19-08, 12:52 AM
Oh man, Nick, I see we're doing b-fast at Granite City again. Much thanks for making that a part of our routine. Our trip last year turned me on to that restaurant, and I can't resist going (when I've got the money for it haha).

dirt_cheap_fleetwood
03-19-08, 01:10 AM
I might be able to snag a helmet or two from my grandparents on the way out there if anyone needs it.

1SICKESV
03-19-08, 04:43 PM
I have a sunroof n would like to race. So a spare helmet would be greatly appreciated. Why the helmets. Never raced on a track. Is this commonly a rule for all tracks?

nickc50310
03-19-08, 05:11 PM
They will probably let you race without a helmet......

JimmyH
03-19-08, 06:20 PM
I thought all tracks made you wear a helmet.

kfx
03-20-08, 11:28 AM

I have been practicing my manual shifting so we will see what happens.

dirt_cheap_fleetwood
03-28-08, 04:35 AM
At least you will get one race. My transmission just started acting up yesterday and has gone downhill since then. I go from first to second to some random slipping bullcrap to a half-assed third then back to second then back to a half-assed third and then to neutral. Sadly, overdrive never comes.

This what I have planned. Highline Cady and I will meet up Saturday morning and set sail. Oh wait I can't say it like that. More like start our flight at a nice cruising speed. I plan on bring a PCM or three, a laptop, Tech II, The new gadget and meet up at the track. We will be in the loud I mean very load DHS. You can't miss it. Well I should say you will hear us coming.
You will see the worlds fastest DHS. Note column shift:cookoo:

I may not be able to make it Friday night after all. I might be scheduled to work that night, plus the campground won't let me come in after 9PM, so its almost worthless to get out there that night. If that's the case, I will leave early Saturday morning and try to be there before the cruise. Don't think I would be able to get out there in time for breakfast.

Yeah Jesda, what the heck! If you're not there, who else is gonna over drink and vomit everywhere, clog up the toilet and sink, and then leave the cleaning ladies a $20 tip?

If you maintain an average of 80MPH it is only 6 hours...... I got 10 dollars to throw down on your turnpike fees! :crybaby:I'll cover the other $4. I just want a big turnout for all the work Nick puts in. Last year's meet was fun, but this year could be really big if we got 30-40 to show.

6hrs. with a broken collar bone could be tough though. Doesn't sound like fun, how'd you do it?

I'll definitely be there Saturday. Sorry, but I can't afford a hotel nor can I afford to drive halfway home to my grandparents just for Friday night. I don't know if I'll be dragging because my car has been in the tranny shop for 2 and a half weeks now 'cause I lost 3rd and overdrive again and I need to give it time to break in. I'll see you gentlemen on Saturday for the racing at least. It's a bit of a haul from WI, but figure it'll be worth it. Maybe there are some people like me who plan on showing up but just haven't gotten in touch yet? Then again maybe not, either way a bunch of people or just a handful, I'm sure it'll be a good time none the less.

If gas costs more than 5 bucks a gallon by next weekend however, I'm not coming. LOL

How's the weather looking for the weekend? It's looking rather bleak for the Twin Cities anyways....mid '50s and cloudy, with a chance of rain.

according to the weather channel, it is supposed to be in the mid 60s. not calling for rain though.

dwight.j.carter
04-22-08, 01:15 PM
he was shooting the breeze with the chicago guys and someone else got into the conversation thinking it was all serious. Well Nick said something to the guy and Urby banned him. Makes me glad I didn't pay to renew my subscription yet. Things like that make me not want to be a supporting member.

JimmyH
04-22-08, 01:32 PM
urb's a good guy, I know him personally. he and sal are under alot of pressure from vendors and stuff, as well as all the complaints about namecalling. So there is basically a zero-tolerance for name calling, even if joking. Nick knew that and is facing the consequences. Ah well, it's only a week.

I am sure you are still reading Nick, so I will needle ya about this in IA!!!!!!

I~LUV~Caddys8792
04-22-08, 01:37 PM
It's funny how whenever I attend a meet, atleast one of the major members in the meet gets banned. This time it's Nick, and last time, at the Chicago meet, it was Elias and Jason. It's like rain on your wedding day, 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife....isn't it ironic?

the whole thing of it is we have all these sensative snobs coming onto the site since the new cts came out. And with that we can't shoot the breeze like we use to. I remember when the site use to be like hanging out in the garage and shooting the breeze with your buddies.

JimmyH
04-22-08, 01:50 PM
It's bigger now. It cannot be that way anymore. I know what you are saying about the snobs, which is why I keep my ass out of the 08 CTS forum. Even if I had one I would not go in there.

dwight.j.carter
04-22-08, 01:54 PM
I am just upset because I see all the things my brother does for this site and then gets banned. Don't get me wrong I know he has a problem with running his mouth. When we where kids I punched him on a regular basis for it lol. But Urb knows Nick and knows what he does here and to ban him I think is a little far. It's almost like you are turning away the customer that is paying for your product or service. I am done talking about it this has made my good day into a bad day so I am going to stay off for a while.

Well, bad news today. I talked to the guy doing the transmission on my car and he says they got it all put back together today but it still won't shift right. This means he has to take it all back apart and replace the valve body, which is about the only original thing left in it. I expressed my concern about having the car by the weekend and he said it will be done by Thursday. However, he said it would be done last Wednesday, but low and behold I still have no car. I'm just going to have to see what happens.

Carter, could you PM me Nick's phone number. I still can't find it on the forums and it might be useful for when I get lost this weekend (its almost guaranteed to happen), if I can even make it.

He still isn't sure if he can go. His family was planning to go to Wisconsin this weekend but their station wagon is in the shop. If the car is fixed by the weekend he is goin north. If its not, I'll be there.

One more day baby!! Got few more things hope to get done tonight before leaving for IA tomorrow.
1. Got a hardwire kit for my Escort 8500 so I can get rid of the cord going to the power outlet.
2. My paint guy got my new euro bezel already done, want to get it installed but I know it involves modifying the wiring harness, have to see how involved that is.
3. Final wash (if it's not raining), clean/condition leather seats, final wipe down of engine compartment. Check fluid levels, air pressure, pack golf clubs, buy beer for road trip.

One bad thing, I think my rear passenger speaker is dying, sometimes making a crackling sound @ high vols. Trying to get a replacement from my Alpine guy but doesn't look like it will happen b4 the meet. Oh well, maybe i'll just have to crank it up & finish destroying it this weekend.

Awesome Kurt! Cant wait!!!!

I finised up a few more coats of Zaino yesterday morning before work. Today i just gotta get all packed and clean the inside of my car. I am not washing it again until I get there tomorrow. Then tomorrow I need to go out to the dealership and pick up one of those air bag plastic pieces since I broke one when i fixed my sirius radio.

Anyone want to join me at the car wash around two or three tomorrow?

I'm not trying to back out I just don't want to spend the money in gas when I could ride with you. Not to mention I could have a nap on the way there . I will drive it's not that big of deal but I probably won't race unless I get a bug to do it.

You must bring your car. That Northstar powered DHS will be at the track.
I would like to throw a tune in your car and see what it runs with and without.

I think it will be the fastest Cadillac at the strip. It will out run a CTS-V

I'll be driving the only thing I would really like to see change on my car is the shift points. I like how the car runs but in order for me to race decently I have to manually shift it. And that is something I haven't done when racing Nick.

i dont know about your car but my car still shifts when it feels like it even when i have it in the numbers on the shifter. wtf is the point of the numbers anyway if it does that!!???

AJ, are you able to adjust a shift on my 3.6L at all?

dwight.j.carter
04-24-08, 03:37 PM
on your car it doesn't make a difference because of the torque curve. On a Northstar the curve is in the 4-5k rpm range. So by me holding it in second to that point she gets up alot quicker and the same goes coming out of second going into third and so on.

Well folks, I got it all mapquested out. We won't take I-35 through Iowa because it's a snoozefest, so we'll take 52 south, and connect with US-63, then I-380, then I-80, then I-74...then we're there. It's more fun, and it's 25 less miles. We should be there between 4:30 and 5:30, depending on what we do for lunch. We'll try to make it to the 4:30 dinner.

Well, not so great news. I STILL do not have my caddy back. I was hoping to spend the last 2 days doing work on her before the meet, but obviously its too late for that now. She has not been washed since last October and currently has no headliner/trim around the roof. That, of course, is if I get her back sometime tomorrow.

On the other hand, I have managed to procure a car for the weekend if needbe. If my car ain't back, I will be driving my dad's '94 Club Wagon Chateau (basically a smoother riding E-150). Its got 190,000 miles, gets 16 mpg highway, is starting to rust to pieces and has the acceleration of an aircraft carrier. Even with all this, you can count on me attempting to drag the sumbitch. Let the good times roll.

351 Windsor in its pride and glory. For its age, mileage and history (pulled a 7000 lb trailer for the first 120,000 miles of its life) its surprisingly quick. It tries way to hard though.

I found two sets. One is in Rockford and the other is at Cadillac of Naperville. If someone might be able to pick these up for me and bring them to Davenport please let me know ASAP. Call me. 515-202-4737

Thanks guys! I would pay cash to you for the markers in davenport.

hey guys, remember how i sorta missed the 2nd half of the weekend cause of abdominal cramps & puking? Turns out it wasn't food poisoning or a stomach bug. Problems have continued this week & i ended up in the emergency room yesterday, turns out i'm the proud owner of a 4mm kidney stone that i'm in the process of passing. it's definitely on the move and hopefully i'll piss it out soon, cause it hurts like an mf. Percoset is now my new best friend, i've been in lala land pretty much all day.

JimmyH
04-30-08, 08:49 PM
holy crap, my thoughts are with you. I had a stone last year. It was not pleasant. I woke up at 4am with the most blinding pain I have ever experienced. I did not get the vomiting though, which surprised the doctors.

4mm is big. I wont lie to you, that is going to hurt. I did not even feel mine come out, but mine was small, like 2mm, and I was drugged up at the time.

so good luck to you man

I~LUV~Caddys8792
04-30-08, 09:43 PM
Wow Kurt, sorry to hear about that!!! My dad had one back in like '88 and it was the worst pain he's ever experienced, and he's the one that's paying the insurance bills on the Benz! Hahaha!

kfx
05-01-08, 01:26 PM
my dad had a long history of kidney stones so i must have inherited it from him. He had a really big one that was lodged in place & they had to do major surgery, hope I never need that. Yeah, it's probably the worst pain I've ever felt, other than when I broke my ankle/leg in 3 places back 04. The puking is what made me think it was a stomach virus, but I guess it was just from the intense pain. I ended up puking so much on Sat & Sun that I lost my voice for a couple days.

I'm back at work today, seems ok for the last 14 hrs., however I've been pissin through a screen since Tue. and haven't passed anything yet. Not sure if it dissolved or is just sitting there waiting to come out, only time will tell. thnx for the well wishes.

pissin through a strainer is fun, n'est pas?

The bad part is if you get one, odds are you are going to get more.
If you have not passed it, it is probably lodged somewhere, and could be there for a while. I am sure they told you as long it is stationary, you don't feel it. It is only when it's on the move that you feel the blinding pain.
