I just want to clarify what I've read in some of the other threads. I have an '87 Fleetwood Brougham, RWD with a 307.
The engine has died. Sad about the previous performance anyway, I just want to make sure that I'm clear on a DIRECT bolt in replacement. It seems that the 350 and 403 are as direct as they get. BUT, are there specific years that are easier, considering wiring, smog etc?
I have a great line on a '76 Cutlass with a 350 rocket, but it would seem that with the computer in the Cad and other wiring needs, there could be some headaches with what came on the '87 307 vs what would come with the '76 350. Any other simple options? or would this be pretty straight?
I'm not building for performance or the like. Just a little stronger than the 307 is wanted. 350 Olds engines are fairly plentiful, as are the 403's. Just looking for the best year and donor car for the easiest swap.
Thanks a million guys.
If I can't find a good, inexpensive swap, I'll be selling the Cad if anyone is interested.
