I wasn't driving the car, but my fiancee was. A dash light came on and so she called OnStar. They told her it was a Secondary Timing Chain failure and she'd have to take it to the dealer as soon as possible.
So it's there now. Both the dealer and OnStar told her there was a TSB issued for this, but I haven't been able to find the exact bulletin (I checked NHTSA and this site).
Is this a serious issue? I know Timing Chains are a critical. How long should it take to correct?
And does anyone have the specific TSB.
I guess I just didn't expect a timing chain issue from such a new vehicle. I'm a little shocked.

Check the 2007 timing chain thread on 3/10 herein. A few interesting comments.

TSB J0820. We had our 07 SRX V6 AWD (12000 m) at dealer for 6 weeks last fall to get the defective timing chains replaced. The new chains were not available as several cars were getting repaired nationwide. Our paper work shows that TSB J0820 was accomplished which included installing (2) 12589011 chains, (2) 12616608 chains and (1) 12616609 chain. Car runs good after replacement. Servicing Dealer Frank Kent provided 08 DTS for us for the 6 weeks and GM provided other monetary considerations
We were told that some chains in early 2007 models were not heat-treated by vendor. GM had several redesigns. The chains stretch and car runs dangerously slow as timing is changing. My dealer had good mechanics who knew what and how to fix - engine was stripped down. We have had no oil leaks or other issues with this item. Since that time, we did have oil leak from font shaft seals which were replaced. Recent recall on rear differential seal replace. Another recall for something. Wheel alignment to correct excessive right rear tire wear(slick at 22000). Now have a rear seal leaking on garage floor. And unsolved rear-end (bearing) noise at 25 mph up.
Back to dealer Monday- Sure glad we have the 100K warranty since it looks like my SRX will not last that long?

Holy crap! I hope our dealer's service technicians know exactly what they're doing.
I'm now glad that we're just leasing.
Thanks for all of the information.

I now see the other thread. Can a mod merge them to reduce the double talk?
