I've got an 07 Short Lade that has been broken on to twice already. They keep popping a hole under the handle and getting in the vehicle without triggering the factory alarm because the vehicle thinks I am unlocking it with the key. My question is two fold...

1. How does the truck know when the vehicle is unlocked with a key?
2. Is there a way to bypass this alarm feature so that the alarm sounds even if you enter the vehicle with key.

My opinion is that "factory alarms" are worthless - worse than worthless! A $65K vehicle should come with a FIRST CLASS alarm system that does everything, to include closing the windows and sun roof when rain is detected. But NO. And I'm sure not going to spend $1000 for an after market alarm for a leased car.
